Question about Bosch SHY56A02 / SHY56A06 Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

When I press the start button, Bosch dishwasher (model SHY56A 05UC) just keep running the motor pumping the water out of dishwasher, irrespective of: 1) the wash cycle it is on, 2) whether the door is closed or open, 3) whether I cancel drain cycle, as told by Bosch Cust Svc in following steps: - "Cancel Drain" by pressing `Quick Wash' and `Regular Wash' buttons together for a minute until it shows 0* - Shut power off for a minute and wait for a minute - Restart on Quick Cycle. Paid $1,000 for this dishwasher just over 5 years ago (Want to guess when all warranty expires?) Any suggestions for fixing this or buying a more reliable box that mixes soap with water, stirrs it up for a while and sprays water?

What is happenig i believe and has happened to me 2 times is that the water level float that is on the left side of dishwasher is stuck.

Either remove side panel and flick lever or pull dishwasher out and tap lower portion of panel and this will cause the level to move and then see hat happens

How to run self test on bosche dishwasher

Here is an excerpt from "Bosch Dishwasher Troublesoooting".

Running a Test Cycle
Bosch dishwashers have a test cycle which can be run as a troubleshooting measure. The method to run this test cycle is similar across the Bosch dishwasher range so if your dishwasher features seems different from those described below then try experimenting, as the process is fairly straight forward and will be very similar. Bosch dishwasher model numbers are usually found around the top or lip of the door. One of the most common differences between dishwasher models is simply the names of the buttons. For example in the first example below, POWER SCRUB PLUS and REGULAR WASH may be called WASH and ECO depending on your dishwasher model and the country you are in. The other key difference is whether your dishwasher has a display panel (which can display error codes) or not (in which case a program light will illuminate to tell you the fault.
To run the test cycle hold down the POWER SCRUB PLUS and REGULAR WASH buttons. Whilst held down press the ON/OFF button. The lights above them should flash. Now you can check the status of each dishwasher program by pressing its button. Now you can run the full test cycle = Press the POWER SCRUB PLUS and REGULAR WASH buttons again. The dishwasher will start up and when the cycle has ended one, if you have no display panel on your dishwasher model the indicator lights will illuminate if a malfunction was detected as follows -
CLEAN - A temperature sensor fault. If this is the case then the test cycle will be very short as the dishwasher will terminate the test once it's been detected.
RINSE/DRY - A water sensor/filling fault. If this is the problem then the test cycle will not complete as the dishwasher cannot detect the right level of water, the dishwasher will just keep filling and draining again.
WASH - A heating fault. Check your heating element.
If you do have a display panel on your Bosch dishwasher then after the cycle is complete an error code will be shown if a fault has been detected. The error codes are as follows -
0 - No errors have been detected.
1 - A water sensor/filling fault.
2 - A heating fault.
4 - A water filling fault. This can also appear as F on the display during a normal cycle.
8 - A temperature sensor fault.
When troubleshooting your Bosch dishwasher, running the above test cycle is a good start in diagnosing the problem and should give you an idea of where the problem lies with your Bosch dishwasher and what fixes and repair are in order. Our general troubleshooting page will give you some ideas on other things to check on your dishwasher. Good luck!

My Bosch dishwasher SHX 46a 05uc will not pump the water out when done with the wash cycle or rinse cycle

Hello,

1 Remove the pump and drive motor. You willfind two plastic and one rubber motor couplings. One is located on the drivemotor and the other is on the gear case with the rubber coupling between them.
2 Pry or break the old couplings off with your screwdriver. Replace with newcouplings. Simply push one onto the shaft of the gear case and press the secondone onto the shaft of the drive motor.
3 Line up the holes of the rubber isolation coupling with the studs in thecoupling. Push the rubber isolation coupling in place.
4 Push the isolation and coupling on the drive motor making sure that theholes line up with the studs on the other coupling on the gear case. ยท 5 Reinstall the drive motor and then snap the pump in place with the retainersto hold it in place. Reconnect the hoses with the clamps and snap the.Put thewasher back on and screw the back in place. Position the washer where you hadit before and plug the washer in.
Good luvk and thanks for using fixya.

We have a bosch classixx free standing dishwasher and the base is filled with water, we ve removed the filter but there doesn t seem to be anything there causing the blockage.any ideas?

Hello Becky,

The most likely causes are a failed drain pump motor (or capacitor) or a jammed/broken pump impeller. There is a very simply simple test on classixx models which which help you to determine the cause, or where to look next.

1. Turn the wash cycle selector to any wash cycle so the "ON" light is illuminated, but do not press the START/STOP button.
2. Open the door and pull the lower basket out.
3. Locate the 'float', lift it up fully and keep it held up.

(The float is a dome/mushroom shaped protrusion in the base of the washer just to the left of the drain and partially hidden by the spray arm)

When you lift the float, the drain pump should run instantly and the water should drain from the washer. If you can hear a low hum from the pump motor in the base of the washer, but the water doesn't drain, then it's likely that the pump impeller is jammed or it may have broken away from the spindle. If this is the case, try repeatedly lifting and dropping the float fairly rapidly. Repeated stop/start signals to the pump motor can sometimes free a stuck impeller.

If you cannot hear any noise from the base of the washer when you lift the float, then the drain pump motor or the motor capacitor may have failed. A failed capacitor is often accompanied by a buzzing noise. Further testing will be required to determine the exact cause of the fault.

Please try the simple test above and then post back with the results for further assistance.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
BElectric

Bosch SGS5332GB dishwasher. drain pump runs all the time

There is a float under the machine that tells the pump to shut off. If the float is stuck or bad, the machine will keep draining. I am including a web site that might help. Bosch Dishwasher That Will Not Stop Draining Hunker

if the door doesn't shut, the push buttons should not work. that way you are not running your d/w with the door open. check the door latch, as it seems to be malfunctioning. if the d/w still does not work, replace the door latch.

Bosch dishwashers have a seperate pump for washing and another for draining. Try making it fill more than once. There is usually a timed fill and the float stops it before it overfills It also might prevent it from washing without enouth water Try defeating the door switch and play with the float during fill. There may be a sensor that won't let it go into wash. Be prepared to get a little wet if it should start up suddenly. A slightly safer way is to fill it with the sprayer from the sink. and see if it will go into wash.

Drain pump won't stop

that usually happens when there is water in the base of the dishwasher where the motors are. Check to see if there is water in the base. This will trigger a float that turns off the water and on the drain pump.Remove the water and it should fill. However note that water came from somewhere, so find where it is leaking.
