So how do you get the parts out of a shure? There is like a liquid nails kind of stuff that holds everything in the barrel. Do you have to heat it or something?

Hi danny

There not that much to take apart on the sm58. On page 2 of the user manual there is a wiring diagram to reconnect wires. the grill wind filter part screws on. The socket on the bottom is secured with a screw.

I got a shure sm58 from my friend... I was cleaning the dust on the mic, and I unscrewed it but then it doesn't work, the internet says that the green and yellow wires are usually disconnected when unscrewed... Should I take the mic apart myself? But it says the warranty will be cancelled... or should I just fix it myself...? If it's really the wires how do I connect them back in place cause one you do then when you screw it back it's gonna be lose again right...? I just got it for a week and I am really sad my friend flew away and there's no help :( Can anyone help me...

Shure SM58 not working. Tried on various pieces of equipment using various configurations of cables and not a sound. Took unit apart and all wiring appears to be intact. The mic has been unused for several...

The SM58 is a dynamic mic. It's actually a very simple device. Thus, it doesn't "degrade". If an SM58 fails, it usually fails catastrophically. Now, the problem for is that you don't know if the failure is in the handle (which includes a transformer) or the cartridge).

You can order a replacement cartridge from Shure and solder it in place, but might be better for you to just send the mic to Shure. I believe they will just replace the mic with a new one for their service fee.

Shure SM58 A singer has joined me with her own SM58 ,i have to turn the volume up much higher on mine ,with a more muffled sound .This is causing a prob .The PA is a Yamaha Stagepas 300

Please get the microphones checked seperately If there is an impedance difference orr if the coil is damaged then this difference of sound is possible.
So just check it out or else replace the mic.

Need to clean my sm58 grills

Did you try to unassembled the microphone?
Get the top section off, and then take it apart to separate the transducer. Some of these models are a task in themselves to take apart and reassemble.
Once you are left with the screens, these could be washed with water and dried off. Then you simply re-assemble again.

HELP!!!!! SM58 (with switch) had no sound after slightly screwed

I would recommend returning the mic for factory warranty. It's the safest option.

By trying to fix it yourself, you risk the wires becoming even more damaged. You would probably have to solder them back to the connectors. It takes a steady hand when trying to solder on a wire to a micrphone connector, (I've tried a few times). The fact that it's so tiny, and located very near the diaphragm, it is a very risky operation.

If you do manage to get them back in place, it is not likely that they will disconnect again if you use solder once you try to put the cap back on. The problem is that you should never open it again. Harsh punishment, especially if it's under warranty.
