Perhaps some physical damge to either the main mechanism or loading/carriage mechanism if you can't get a tape inside the unit. The power shut off is an automatic response, when the operation becomes comprimised.

well if the vcr is hooked up and you can watch a show on it put in a tape that has a movie on it then press play if you can see the show take out that tape put in your blank tape find the show on your tv u wish to record press record try this before the show comes on record a little bit of a show like 30 sec or so then rewind and play back to see if it did record if it did just repete this when the show that you want to record comes on hope this is helpfull....

The takeup spools could be faulty,not returning the tape fully.

this loading problem in the AG-DV2500 is caused by a defective cassette housing. list price from Panasonic is about $375.00.

Sounds like a mode switch problem to me!

the DV2500 will not play LP (90 minute) tapes. when an LP tape is inserted, it will play for 2-3 seconds, and then eject.

clean the heads; often, heads that will play back a pre-recorded tape may not record because of dirt.

most likely problem is a defective cassette housing. I've replaced about a dozen of these in AG-DV2500s.

The random audio/video breakup sounds like a tape path alignment issue. Best done by a repair shop.

no - only sp tapes. if you try an lp tape, it plays for about 2 seconds, then the deck ejects it.
