Hey shboom,
In most cases, you should be able to find your computer's serial number someplace on the computer itself. Many manufacturers may identify it with an "S/N" or "Serial," though how it is indicated may vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.
For laptops, your serial number is typically found on the bottom of the computer, and may either be on a factory-placed sticker or embossed onto the computer case.
For desktops, you can usually find the serial number on the side or rear panel of the PC tower. Again, this may be on a factory-placed sticker or embossed onto the computer case.
Alternatively, you may be able to find the computer's serial number within your owner's manual documentation. Some manufacturers may opt to provide consumers with a two-part registration card or quick reference sheet that contains the most important information about a computer's features (such as the associated Microsoft Product Keys, serial number and system specifications).
Additionally, you may even be able to find the serial number of your computer on the box in which it was originally packaged. Some companies may choose to list this information on the outside of their packages for shipping, tracking or return/exchange purposes.
Hope this helps you out.
Sincerely,
Aaron
