Well, tried resetting all power to the board and then rebooting? Even CMOS batt? Try any video related fixes with the cheapest and simplest first, always... Check the output VGA port and S-video for example

Bios no longer detects the harddrive

Is it set to run disc or hard drive 1st?
if reinstalling windows it needs to boot up from cd drive 1st and this will automatic copy to new garden drive, after that change bios to boot up from hard drive.

powersource is good.motherboard might be the problem.harddrive can be tested by putting it in
another computer and see if it boot up.to test the mother board unhook the cd drives and harddrive.turn
on the computer and see if the gateway logo comes on.if it still does the the samething with everything unhooked
then it might be the bios.you might have to flash the bios and reinstall it.to do this i recommend you take it to a
shop.if the comp runs with everything still unpluged and stops then you know that you have a wrong

I got desktop rebooting that was solved by memory replacement, you have to determine what worked prior to the error and revert any change to another method

Dell Latitude C800

Does this happen with both the power plugged and running on battery?
Check the power modes, because the screen intensity is one of the power saving settings.

Dell Cpi-A laptop Bios problem

Hello I am having the same problem. I have two batteries neither of which are detected even at full charge. My laptop only runs when its plugged in. My bios appears just as you said it remains stuck on the first page. This happened after my machine shut itself off i think due to overheating. I have done many upgrades and it has run great for over a year now. I have a much larger processor than my motherboard was meant for but it still ran with it in. Have you made any changes to your laptop recently? This happened to me right after i replaced the harddrive. Please let me know if you have fixed the problem thanks!
