My PS3 80Gb shows the red standby light as normal. When I push the power button, I hear one beep, as the light go from red, to green, to off, and then finally back to red again. If I push the eject button...

Does the lights blink red? If so, You have the infamous YLOD, aka. Yellow Light of Death. This is the number 1 cause of pS3's dying. It is an overheating issue linked to your CPU and GPU (the processor chips) You will need to find a local PS3 repair shop who can repair this. Do not try to attempt repairs seen on the internet yourself as some would suggest. You could make things much worse and render the unit totally unresponsive. The repair process takes about 3 hours.

IT CAN BE FIXED*

IS THERE A DISC STUCK INSIDE?

If you have a unit that is not backwards compatible, any non 60g or 80g then you can retrieve your disc.

Power off the unit using the toggle switch on the back. Hold down the 'eject' button and turn the toggle switch back from off to on. This will run a fan test and eject your disc. Remember, this will only work on the 20, 40g models. Not the backwards compatible units with the 4 usb port holes and the memory card slots.

You will have to have the system repaired so that you can eject the disc the normal way. If the technician cannot repair your system, simply ask him to remove your disc.

Navigation not working get disk reading error message upon starting car and every few minutes afterward

Check for a scratched or dirty Navi DVD disc. Clean or have the scratches polish out at your local game store. Video game stores usually have a disc repair machine that polishes out scratches.
Note: In some cases the Navi unit can cause rotational scratches on the DVD. If this is the case than the Navi unit will have to be replaced.

Will not eject disk

Hi,

Is your eject button broken? Does it click when you punch it, or goes in like the button on the board is broken?

It is either this or there is something jammed inside your system.

Will not read disc or eject disc

There's a few things you can try. Turn off unit, unplug from AC for 5 minutes or so, plug back in, turn unit on, hit eject/open.
OR..same as above, but hold the eject/open button, then turn unit on.

Sometimes a combination of these odd procedures actually work. Sometimes holding the stop button, and hitting eject/open works too. Hope this is helpful.

Disc is stuck inside goes on will not eject or

You will find a small whole in front of the disc. Quite small, say a niddle head size just take a pin approx 3 inches and poke it slowly inside. You shall feel the pushing of a soft touch feather button like on your keyboard and your CD will come out. Don't forget to push eject button before poking the pin. and kindly do rate my solution.

Disc stuck in unit

Unplug power cord. Plug back power and keep pressing the eject button repeatedly while the unit starts up. Do this a couple of times, if you succeed in activating the eject before the system starts reading the disk, then it will eject.

If you do not get the disk out in this way, the only alternative is taking the unit apart, and removing disk from inside manually.

Make sure the face of the radio is completely unobstructed. If anything blocks it, the disc will not eject. Another tip is to take a CD while the door is oped and insert it into the unit part way to "trick" the unit into thinking a disc is being loaded. Then unit may be confused and thinks that no disc is inside the radio. Also, disconnecting constant power for at least 15 seconds will often reset the unit.
