Tv repair big screen tv shut off by itself. when you try to turn it on you hear an faint click but nothing happens

Did you try repairing the PS with a repair kit first then replace both the boards after that?

Hi the power supply might have shut down through overheating turn the power of at the wall socket & wait for a short time before trying again the TV might reset itself if this doesn't work its probably shut down from a faulty component. good luck

Do you see the backlight ever coming to the screen?

You will want to open the cover, disconnect the backlight inverter and try again to see if it will stay on even without an image.

If it does it's the inverter.

if it still shuts it's most likely (not guaranteed) either the power board itself or the main board.

A good tech should be able to test the power board independantly fairly quickly.

YOU HAVE A BAD INVERTER YOU NEED TO CHECK TO SEE IF THERE IS 30 VOLTS ACROSS THE INVERTER ALSO CHECK TO SEE THAT ALL THE FUSE ARE NOT BLOWN ANOTHER ISSUE WITH THESE TV IS THE LCD ITSELF BUT 9 OUT OF 10 ITS THE INVERTER OR THE POWER SUPPLY PLEASE CHECK THE FUSE ON THE INVERTER THATS USUALLY A BIG PROBLEM

Either give me a yahoo or note if light on front of set blinks--count the blinks if it does.

most common is 3 blinks, pause 3 or 5 blinks etc.

If this happens on all inputs and you have disconnected the power and reconnected it and that didnt fix it.

Sounds like a logic board issue problem is LG only warrenties tvs for 1 - 2 yrs.

The power board ic coverter it dead.
U need to replace the power board.
U can go the web and buy this board changes
or get the tv repair man replace part and labor $575.

If you are turning off your TV by basically unplugging it (turning off the AC power supply) then you will not hear the click of the solenoid which is activated normally by the Power button. The glow may well be the after effects of the screen being on for some period of time. Quite literally the "afterglow". This should be very faint and fade after some time.

Worth fixing? Sorry, probably not. My experience with problems like this are such that the set will keep being repaired as new issues develop. The click and shutdown are a safety feature and are kicking in for a reason. Take what you'd spend on repairs and get a new TV. It will be cheaper in the long run. You might make some $ back by selling the set for parts. Who knows? Hope this helps.
