If you are having distorted or muffled sound from your deck then this could be caused by either 1)poor settings 2) bad output amplifier or 3) blown speakers, inspect 1 and 3, if ok then is 2. hope this helps.

All you can really do is use a CD Player cleaner *one that uses fluid* run it thru a couple times and try a disc again. Clean your CD's with liquid car polish an a microfibre towel, it works wonders for new and old CD's. If it still skips, It needs to be pulled for repair. They just replace the transport, usually runs between 100-150 depending on the service center. Hope this helps.

Press the mode button repeatedly to select BASS, TREBLE, SUBW, BALANCE, FADER, DEFEAT, AND VOLUME. When subwoofer mode is set to off, it's level cannot be adjusted. If DEFEAT is set to ON, the player returns to factory defaults. Turn the volume control to adjust the setting. If no adjustment is made within 5 seconds after selecting, the player returns to normal mode.

Make sure that the head unit is secured tight, it might be the bass that is rattling the head unit and therefore the cd is jumping.

There is no straigt forward bass and treble adjustment. You must adjust in either the (x-over) or (users EQ) function. It is a bit tedious but performs the bass and treble adjustments at multiple frequencies.

Has it always done this, or is this a new problem? If this is a new problem you may need the unit serviced. It may need the lens cleaned, or laser replaced. If the laser is getting weaker it can do that. They also have these small oil filled dampers used like shock absorbers. If one of those is torn and has leaked a little oil out it will skip much easier. They also use springs to support the cd mech, if a spring has streched out or come loose, that can also make it skip on big bass hits.
You can always try putting some foam or something around the radio to help keep those heavy bass hits from vibrating the radio. But then the radio may get too hot.
Make sure the radio is very secure in the dash.
If this problem has been going on since you installed the radio, you have an installation problem. The radio is a little loose and prone to move around a little.

its prolly the deck, did you try turning the alpine's input gain controls up...

its not the wiring, if the wiring was insuficient, it would just melt...

you might also see if you could adjust the bass frequencies or crossover frequency, the crv might just have a different resonant frequency then the rav 4

What kind of car did you install this in? Did it have a factory radio in it? If I had to take a guess I would think that there is a factory amp that you may have hooked the blue wire from the alpine deck to. If this is the case when you switch to CD the alpine deck turns off the power to the power antenna lead(blue wire) and thus your factory amp. If this is the case hook the factory amp turn on to the blue and white wire and you should be good to go.

Look in your owners manual and make sure you are turning the right knobs or pushing the right buttons once you have the adjustment screen for the bass/treble showing. It could be that they use different knobs/buttons than the volume control. If you are using the right controls, then you have a problem that only a shop can fix. You might reset by taking away all the power (acc and bu) for a couple minutes and then reconnect, but if that doesn't help then it time to go to the shop.
