If someone attempts to open the locked safe by forcing the safe handle to the open position it can strip the plastic gear. So even if you have the correct safe code and the batteries are fully charged the safe will not open. If you can lay the safe on its side (hinge side on the floor) gravity and banging the side of the safe with a hammer may cause the bolts to unlock. Unfortunately, if this doesn't work you will need a locksmith to open the safe.
