I have an olympus ds 4000 and the folders are locked. How do I unlock the folders and what causes this problem? thanks, Sherise

do you have programs files (86) in your PC "C" drive menu menu? If yes that;s where yiou should install the software. That's because it;'s a 32 bit on a 64 bit.

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

Your DS-40 DVR has lock function to avoid important files from being accidentally erased.Locking and unlocking a file folder can be found on page 68 of your user manual.

Had same problem. Found online handbook for DS-4000 and page 37 pointed way.
Press menu button on the handset.Go to sub menu. Page 37 of online handbook suggests you can lock and unlock from this but I used the format icon on the submenu to reformat the card. Seems to be working fine now.

I just installed AS and DS-4000 units. I upload my dictation to the server and it is then downloaded to my secretary. She couldn't change the folder because it was read only. I went on the server and changed the upload folder to full access and that fixed it.
I don't know if this is your problem. You might want to right click on the folder and see what the attributes look like under properties.
