Thank you for your reply. I have no idea what an SATA cable is... or a power pin...
I think I should just take it in and have someone do it for me. I'm afraid I'll mess something up.
Does anyone know if I bought the right kind of hard drive for my machine?Thank you for your reply. I have no idea what an SATA cable is... or a power pin...

Well kristy, in installing the new HDD for your PC, just find a free SATA cable (that usually comes with the HDD when you buy one) the a free power pin, shut the computer down, plug both in, screw the HDD in place, then reboot the computer. Format the HDD under disk management (to do this check the link below)
for the RAM, i personally recommend getting the exact same RAM that you have right now, that is because of stability and compatibility. some issues may occur when you use generic plus branded.
you got the right one, your HDD is SATA, thats good, all you have to do is get a good RAM, if your take it to a store, make sure you ask them to get the same one as what you have right now.you got the right one, your HDD is SATA, thats good, all you have to do is get a good RAM, if your take it to a store, make sure you ask them to get the same one as what you have right now.

Yes, there is. Match the type of drive (Serial ATA or Parallel ATA) you get with what you have. Make sure your Satellite sees the drive in the BIOS. For drives larger than 120 GB, recommend operating systems Windows XP (Service Pack 2 or higher) or Vista. Older OS's have a 137 GB limitation (they only see the first 137 GB of the hard drive despite its size).
1.6 System Memory
