Acer 3680-2682. I reinstalled over vista and put windows XP on it. All I need is the onboard LAN driver so the ethernet port will work. But for some reason the driver Acer's website and customer assistance doesnt work. All that was in the zipped folder was: System file, Security catalog, Setup information and an HTML doc. I don't know whats going on... Help please ha..

In Windows 7 the driver installs automatically
I would suggest uninstalling all drivers for the network adapter then reboot and allow the system to find the NIC again. If this is Windows XP uninstall all drivers for the NIC, reboot, and install the above driver.
If it is Windows 7 uninstall the drive, reboot and allow device manager to locate the driver itself.

Does this model Acer have a LAN port on the laptop.

if so then -

Download the LAN drivers from the Acer WEB site. Make sure you select the model of your laptop and the XP or Vista version of the drivers you that require and it matches the Windows version that is installed on your laptop. Use this link to get to the Acer support: -

Go to the Acer website. Click on the support link. Lookup your model # and then download and install the ethernet driver[LAN} for XP. Reboot and you should be all set. hope this helps.

Go to the Acer WEB site to download the LAN drivers you need, make sure it is Windows XP or Vista version for your particular MODEL laptop.

All you need to do is go to the proper operating system and download the LAN. I checked & there are LAN drivers for both Windows XP & Vista. Hope this helps & please take a moment to rate this solution fixya. Thanks.

If you installed XP over Vista, that would be the issue. You will need to contact Acer support.

try to open the show all networks window disable the default ethernet connectoin then enable the wireless net work

Ok, you need to put a new Op system on the computer, (I assume you want XP) If you have an older HP computer that came with XP on it, you probably already have the discs

Now keep in mind, you will probably have to go online and get the drivers for a lot of your hardware (modem/ethernet port, wireless card, maybe even your touch mouse)
