Lens would not retract now will not come out starts to come out then goes in right away red light on back blinks.
My Olympus recently started doing the same thing... and the warranty of course just expired a month or so ago!
Mine started to do the same and it never was got wet or dopped hard, and I don't have warranty on it..what am I to do now?
mine is doing what sounds like the same thing. i used it all day on the 4th of july, then all of a sudden it stopped working. it wasnt dropped or anything. the lens will not retract, and when i do turn it on, it makes this clicking sound, then shuts itself off. its only a year old..if that.
Turn on camera, makes grinding-type noise, then lens goes in and out several times... nothing focuses... when trying to zoom, camera turns itself off. Camera is exactly one year and one month old. Very annoying that a camera only lasts one year. You can bet that I will rate Olympus much lower than I have in the past for reliability when I fill out Consumer Reports' survey this year. ANy solutions found yet?
Okay, Thats not right. The same thing is wrong with mine. Just over one year old. What can we do about this? Its a major problem!
The same thing here. Exactly! The camera opens and closes. Grinding noise. I try to focuses and it shuts is self off. Its just over a year old. We were on a family vacation.
The exact same problem. Grinding noise. Opens and closes. Shuts off. Just over a year old. They told me to send it in to the repair center. I think if enough of us have the same problem, they would fix it or replace it.
My Olympus fe 230 does the same thing...You turn it on, the lens moves in and out then eventually set up. But it will not focus properly. I noticed if I lightly drop it on its back(screen side - lift it about an inch or so off the table) It actually responds well for while...and works..Go figure. Eventually I'll just smash it against the wall but until then - it works.
