I see you are using a universal power adapter rather than that recommended for your brand of PC/Laptop, this is a NO, NO.
The wrong adaptor for electrical equipment, especially PCs/Laptops is very bad, it can only lead to trouble and eventually, death of the unit.
Buy the recommended adapter, and if you haven't already pickled your PC/Laptop, you should be up and running, A white screen, is like the old MS BSOD, it means CRASH, followed by total failure.
Don't mess with cheaper power supplies not specific to your equipment.
Either your LCD Video Cable is not plugged in snuggly or the monitor is slowly going bad. The fact that you can see the images on an external monitors says your Video Graphics Card is working fine. You'll need to disassemble the laptop to get to the cables. This is most likely an hardware related issue in which case you need to get it checked. To narrow the issue, you can try hooking up your laptop to an external monitor if possible and see if it does the same. If not, then there's probably an issue with the displays internal connectors. You can also try powering your laptop with only the power cable attached and without the battery, then reset all power management settings. If the problem goes away then it's probably a power management issue.

Seems it is the Video card which has gone bad, If in case your system shows Compaq on your screen, os in that case need to install windows in the system again.But if it does not , Please get your system's Video card again.
If its a blank screen all the time that never shows anything not even a screen at startup then it sounds like the internal cable from your monitor to the motherboard of the laptop is unplugged or possibly broken. You need to remove the keyboard from the laptop to check this.

see if you want the data from this harddrive what you can do is bue external harddrive casing and remove the harddisk from laptop and install in the casing and take the backup.
