I have an Aspire 5740 with a Blu Ray player, but it won't play Blu Ray discs! I've downloaded updates from the Acer website but still can't play any. Any suggestions please??

Hi,

In Acer computer you should have Cyberlink PowerDVD software, please open the software and follow the below mentioned steps

To update the Cyberlink PowerDVD software:
1. Connect to the Internet.
2. Open the Cyberlink Power DVD application.
3. Click the arrow in the upper left hand corner of the window next to Cyberlink PowerDVD.
4. Click on Update Now
5. Follow the prompts to install the update.

Note: The update process may have to be repeated more than once to ensure the latest version is loaded on the computer.
Reminder: Blu-ray protection software prevents Blu-ray movies from being displayed on both the notebook LCD and an external monitor at the same time.

Thanks and regards,
Jitha

Try to check your Blu-ray drive and make sure it can function normally. Then you can try another Blu-ray player software tool to play the Blu-ray disc in your notebook. You may try Leawo Blu-ray Player which can play Blu-ray disc for all region codes.

Won,t play latest discs

In most cases, the issue might be with the Java content on the new Blu-ray discs is making this issues. The Blu-ray technology is developing everyday and adding more and more features to the existing technology. Hence it is required to make the Blu-ray Player up-to-date by installing the latest firmware update available from the manufacturer (who ever it is). Going ahead with the first step, please install the latest firmware update available for the Blu-ray Player.

Please click the following link to get the latest firmware update available for your Blu-ray Player:

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-download.pl?upd_id=6170&mdl=BDPS300

You can review the "Important Notes" and "Firmware Update Instructions" on the page to get the instructions to install the firmware update.

If the issue persists after installing the firmware update, the would have been with the disc. Check the disc with another player, try different discs with same player.

If the Blu-ray Player is not at all playing any Blu-ray disc including the previous played ones, then it may require service.

Acer aspire 6935g wont play blu-ray discs, will play dvds ok via media centre and acer arcade deluxe, but does not recognise blu-ray disc when placed in the disc drive

Hi,

You need to download K Lite Codec Pack (Its Free) and you can install it via....... or you can try googling it.

http://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htm

It contains all the different audio and video codecs. Your computer might not play it because it doesnt have a blue ray codec by default

Please post your feedback and Vote if the problem resolved as per your satisfaction.

I cannot play Blu Rays on my Acer (Vista) PC with

If the drive doesn't read any disc's you need to reinstall the drivers and verify you have the latest version. If the drive is ONLY having trouble with Blu-ray then i'm assuming it's the player that you're using; it may not have the right Codac's etc. Also, try multiple Blu-ray movies to verify it isn't just the one movie.
