Unrecognizable format right after we take the picture. You see the picture for a moment in the camera display but suddenly change to a square with the message unrecognizable picture format. We have changed the memory card and still present the problem. I went to a photo shop and they couldn't find any photo at all.

Try this:...go into the menu and find "reset"...follow the on-screen instructions to return the camera to factory default settings. Then, download any pics from the memory card that you want to save. Use a separate card reader if necessary. Then, with the card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format" and follow the on-screen instructions. Let me know how this works for you.

How to view my pictures

Would be better if you provide camera model. Anyway, there must be a button with a symbol of a point between round or square shape, showing right direction. Click this button to view photos. If you have DSLR then check if you have pressed "DISP" or "Lv" button this may change display settings.

Cannot import pictures to iphoto

I will assume you are using OS-10 Snow Leopard or later and a recent version of iPhoto. I would experiment. First I would locate one of your files in Finder and open the picture in Preview to see if the file is basically good. Assuming it is, click on the Apple icon at the upper left of your screen and click 'Software Update' on the pull-down menu. Make sure iPhoto is up to date. Another thing you could try, would be to take one of the files that will not open properly and temporarily changing the file extension from .jepg to .jpg. Both .jepg and .jpg are the exact same format, but it is worth a try.

When i try to view my pictures on my camera they say "unrecognizable format",what do i do?

Did you change the name extension example .jpg to .bmp ? Connect it to the computer and see the extension of the pictures. To see the extension one must open tools from the documents viewer and choose folder options and remove the very good from the box hide extensions...so that you might see the extensions of everything and see what format you are able to see on your camera and format you are not able to see. Hope you got an idea. Goodluck

Insert the memory card in a computer that accepts that type of card (card slot) and see if this other computer can recognize the format. If so, download those files to that computer.

Unrecognizable file format

In your camera settings menu, there is probably an option for you to switch the different kinds of file formats that the pictures are saved onto your memory card as.

Your memory card might not support certain file types.

Unrecognizable pictures with little color and horizontal lines

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:

We have a new olympus camera 1010 and cannot get the camera to use the card to store photos it only wants t use the internal memery help!!

This camera takes 16MB -2GB cards. When you insert the card, make sure that it is formatted. Usually when you insert a new card or one that was formatted for a different camera (or a PC), the Olympus 1010 will ask you to either "Clean card" or "format".

Once you have it formatted, the camera automatically defaults to storing pictures on the card. When the card is removed it will start storing back to the internal memory.

You should see an small icon on the bottom right of the camera windows display when you are taking pictures as shown on page 63 of the manual. When the xD card is installed, you should not see this icon.

If you have a faulty xD card or one that is unrecognizable, you should see error messages like those on page 57 of the same manual.

You can always go to the MENU button and click the RESET button to restore the factory default setting. Make sure you remove the xD memory card before resetting your camera. Take one or two pictures without the card and then insert the card and see if the pictures are stored in the xD card now.

Format Error in Sony Cybershot

it could be a faulty memory card, but a more likely cause is that this stick isn't formatted yet. you can format it usually by bringing up the camera menu, then going to tools and format. you can also format it by using windows and a cardreader or your camera.
