I am having trouble removing hood/motor cover on Epic 550 treadmill. I have removed 4 - 3/4" screws from front panel and 2 - 1/2" screws from underneath. Still feels locked on. Are there other screws to remove somewhere else?

If you lift your treadmill deck up, you will find 2 screws underneath, on the side, towards the front. remove them and that should do the trick.

If you don’t know how to remove the hood then you’re not going to be able to fix anything inside of it.

Check this and adjust it:
If the console takesbatteries, replace them. If this does not work or your console does not requirebatteries, check the reed switch or optic sensor. Reed Switch:Unplug the treadmill and remove the motor hood cover. The reed switch is mountedon the frame next to the front roller pulley. There is a magnet glued into thefront roller pulley. When adjusting the reed switch, make sure it is pointingdirectly at the magnet. Move the tip of the reed switch within 1/8" of themagnet. Also, check to see that the wire is not damaged, and is connected tothe console.
clip_image001.gifOptic Sensor: Unplug the treadmill and remove the motor hood cover. The optic diskand sensor are located either at the end of the motor or the right hand side ofthe front roller. The optic disk spins between two sensors on the optic switch. The disk must spin freely without touching either sensor. The sensors can bemoved by loosening the adjustment bolt holding the switch to its bracket. Theswitch can then be slid. Center the disk.

Start at full speed then stops

If the calibration does not pass you may need to check the speed sensoralignment.1) Remove the motor cover hood by loosening the 4 screws that hold it inplace (you do not need toremove them completely).2) The speed sensor is located on the left side of the frame, right nextto the front roller pulley (thepulley will have a belt around it that also goes to the motor). Thespeed sensor is small and blackwith a wire connected to it.3) Make sure the sensor is as close as possible to the pulley withouttouching it. You will see a magneton the face of the pulley; make sure the sensor is aligned with themagnet. There is a screw thatholds the sensor in place that needs to be loosened to adjust thesensor. Re-tighten the screw whenfinished.

There are 4 screws across the front. The two additional hidden screws are underneath. Lift the walkboard frame up and they will be through the frame where the end of the hood cover is. One on each side.

There are 2 more screws located on the bottom side of the cover. You will need to fold the treadmill down to the ground, console should fold down on top of the walking surface. This will expose 2 holes close to the front roller bottom. These screws are phillips head and need to be removed as well. This will free your cover allowing you to remove it.
