My samsung DVR 4 channel will not turn on. There is a red light in the rear inside, but the unit itself will not come on. I noticed a beeping sound coming from the unit every 10 minutes or so.

Will it show any lights on the front display at all? If there are no front light, then there may be a power problem, try plugging the unit into another socket and if the red light inside the unit returns and wont display anything else the I suspect that it may be a burnt out power pack, which will need to be replaced by a service technician due to the high voltages with power sources.

    There is no lights in the front at all. Just a red one inside the unit. When plugged in it gives a series of 7 beeps then thats it. I will check the power unit to see if Im getting power; I have a electrical tester. Im hoping thats the problem. I was afraid the hard drive had been damaged. Thanks for your help.

 Password Reset Instructions
First, make sure that the unit is turned off.
Then press and hold any button on the included infrared remote control. While holding the button on the remote, power on the unit.
You should hear a single beep followed by a double beep. Samsung Security DVR Default Password.
For nearly all Samsung Security DVRs, the default password is 4321. If it hasn't been changed since setup, then you can just use that to access the DVR. The default password is included in the reset procedures.

Cutts on and off
Sounds like a bad power supply or hard drive. Try replacing the hard drive first and see if that cures it. Otherwise, the DVR could be bad.

I believe there is a small hole on the face of the unit. power down the unit and incert a straighten paper clip to push the reset button, power up the unit wait 30 seconds and it should reset. if that does not work get back to me.
