The first thing to do with black line is to clean the glass, Look where the paper goes in, lift the part above the paper and clean the glass with alcohol, the glass will be on the same side as the printed side of the paper.
Good luck.

Black line is present when copying document; not

This sounds as if you have some ink/contamination on the small scaning glass that sits to either the left or right of the main glass on the copier.(Depending on the model/make)As your original is scanned over this thin piece of glass the scanning device will see any spots and this will result in a black line down the page. Please clean the glass with a soft rag.

Solid black line when scanning or copying from KODAK ESP-3

Get a damp soft cloth and clean the scanner glass. If that doesn't resolve the issue there is a chance the scanning unit itself is damaged.
Let me know.

For this kind of problem you need to call the tech support because the printer is already messed up and it is in need of replacement

A bar code stripe on the right side of the copy.

i'm not sure if you're talking about a solid black band or a bunch of little stripes running down page. does it happen when you run an internal report or only on copies? if its a black solid band, check and make sure the bluish colored tab on top of the drum is all the way to the left side. if its a group of fine lines, depending on whether it happens on internal reports or not, it could be the drum is going bad or you may have a bad scanner. write back with a little more info if this suggestion doesn't work.

good luck,

Black line problems

Some components in the vertical deflection amp have been going out of spec with age.

The set may no longer be worth to spend money to service it because of its age. However, if you wanted to invest the money, the set is serviceable. Considering its age, the CRT may be soft, and there are many other older components that can soon fail.

I would be considering a new set.

Scanning document leaves streak down right hand side

Even a single grain of dust or a single strand of hair on the scanning glass will cause the scan head to perceive ink/image where there is none. Deffinetly try cleaning the glass using a good window cleaner, and a cloth that is completely clean, or even a peice of newspaper. If the black line remains, I would suggest taking it into a service center to have the scan head itself cleaned.
