Does going thru airport security scanners effect the V1253? It showed high temp a few times but doesnt come on or open the lens. I have bought a new battery.

Your previous diagnostic definitely
indicates a mechanical problem. It is very likely that there is a blockage or a broken internal part
that is preventing the correct positioning of the lens which triggers
the shutdown and error display. You can try some of the
procedures listed below to fix it yourself. These simple steps have
helped many people restore their cameras to functionality. The links
below give additional step by step DIY instructions on troubleshooting
and attempting to fix this problem. A Canon camera is used to
demonstrate these procedures but, the lens structure of these compact
cameras is the same so the examples do apply to this unit. These
procedures are effective about 60% of the time. Click on or copy and
paste the links into your browser. Pay special attention to the opening
statement at the first link if there is any chance of warranty repair.
One cannot connect with wi fi with no password near the Airports or other places of high security. You need permission from the Owner of wi fi of that area. After getting permission to access the wi fi, you will be given a pass word. Hope this will clear your doubt. Thanks...
Airport security scanners are a possibility. They use Xray which can with many trios through (especially the bagg ones as they are higher energy) and also they have had some scanners that subject the baggage to high radio fields to affempt to set off any electrically detonated device while contained.
Best to NOT travel with electronic gear, but to rent it at destinations...
HOWEVER it is a possibility that something mechanical has come loose due to rough handling.
Open the unit and put gentle pressure on boards and display and observe ANY changes. While you are at it, look for any cracks on the boards.
Hello, With the information you supplied I'm going to assume the light is blinking 7 times and pausing then blinking 7 times and so on.
With the door cracked open hit the following button combination:
-high temp wash -heated dry -high temp wash -heated dry
Then close the door and hit cancel. The pump will run for a few moments and then you should be all set. Hope this helps Mike
hi...The transmission system that moves the lens in and out has a problem with it's gears. There is most likely a gear or an actuator that has fallen out of alignment and is getting stuck at a certain point as the lens comes in/out.There is some disturbacnce of the lens arrangement that is preventing the lens from coming in/out. Any of these symptoms above could trigger the camera to shut itself off to protect itself from further damage. thank u rate me!!!
I fixed my v1253 following these steps: 1. Pulled the battery when the lens starts to come out before it could power itself off. 2. Gently pull the telescope out until it clicks. 3. Use a fine tip paint brush to clear debris out of the cracks. Camera works just fine now.
Have Kodak Easyshare V1253 with same, "high temp.," error then shutdown. Kodak batt. showed 25% charged. Charged batt 100% & temp. error went away. Batt. internal shows camera if batt. too hot. Try new batt.
I have the same problem, but it only started after I went to the beach and dropped the camera in the sand, it landed on its edge and did not go into the sand deep. I checked it thouroghly and did not see sand grains in the ports etc. I blew it off with compressed air lightly and checked again for sand. It looked clean to me. Then it started. It opened and then closed and I couldn't do anything to fix it. This is my second camera. The first one didn't open right either from the box, but I grabbed the lens as it opened and pulled it a bit until it popped and then it worked.
I fixed the problem on this camera.. so far. I turned it on and let the lens open. I figured the computer was getting, or not getting, a signal to keep it open. At the very base of the telescope lense i turned it a bit more in the direction it was already turning as it tried to open. I noticed that it stopped just short and as i applied a bit of pressure it moved another few milimeters...and whalahh, it stayed open and the camera worked. I turned it off and on and did not touch it, and then it closed again!! So I turned it back on and "forced" it a bit at the lowest telescope base again to make sure it was rotating fully and it moved again a few mm's... and then stayed on. Then I looked really really close at the rim around the lens and did see some "junk" I took a very thin, flat piece of metal, some kind of binder clip my wife had on the computer desk. It was very, very thin and I used it to "clear" around the channel of the telescoping lens and then blew it out again with air. Now the camera works without the little "twist" I had to give it to help it open. Maybe the camera has some sort of sensor that if the lense is not all the way engaged open, it shuts back down. Anyway, it worked for me.
Put all your gear in the xray and do not carry it through the metal detector. It is all safe for modern electronics, and they wont let you carry in the metal detector in the states anyways.
