Chances are that the print head is not locked forward. This happens when the daisy wheel or either of the ribbons are replaced. Just push it forward until it clicks
Hello- Of course the cheapest fix, is to try a second ribbon. If you need one we have them at FJAproducts.com
Most often the reason the ribbon cassette will not stay in place is due to not being seated properly. I am sure you have taken it out a few times and re installed it, but that is "normally" the only reason it "jumps up" one more thing to check in the lever near the daisy wheel. if it got bumped or unlocked the daisy wheel your ribbon will not seat properly.
Ok,there could be two possibilities ,1, The daisy wheel may not be seated in properly. Of course I assume that the print side of the daisy wheel is facing the platen and that when the typewriter is switched on the print unit makes its customary re-setting motion and that the daisy wheel spins around at the same time. if this does not happen make sure that the lock-in lever for the daisy wheel is pushed home.. I am sure that you do all these elementary things so the only other possibility is the the hammer seleniod is not fully functioning and would have to be re-placed....Good luck!
This is primarily for the Brother typewriterI don’t know Olympia typewriters. Brother print wheel are contained in a plastic “cassette” and are not that hard to install.
