I have a GE Profile refrigerator TPX24BPBG) and the lights are out on the refrigerator side. I've checked all the bulbs and they seem to be ok and I've pulled the door switch and shorted the wires together but the lights to not come on. Is there a fuse anywhere? Do you have a suggest on where to start debug? Also have a problem with the icemaker fill tube freezing. Any suggestions?

Yes I am familiar with the door switch. In my original problem statement I did say that I removed the door switch and shorted the wires together however the lights still did not come on. Is there anything else to check?

All ice box's have a door switch which operates the light. When that door gets closed it shuts off the light. It could be stuck in the off position or just simply died.

Remove the metal wiring harness protective plate behind the back side of the ice box. It is about 4 inchs wide and five feet long. Under it is the wiring harness. Their will be a molex plug in there. A lot of times corrosion builds up in the plug(quick connect). Does not cost anything to look. Might save ya some money.

How to get the light to come on in the freezer side by side ge profile artica?

Open the door. The door switch should pop out, the light should come on. If the bulb is burnt out, that would hinder the process. If the bulb is good, I would start with checking voltage at the receptacle and work backwards thru the door switch until I found where the power was lost.

How can I fix a dim light bulb on an ice dispenser?

The dispenser bulb looks similar to a c7 christmas bulb or night light bulb but they are not the same. The dispenser bulb on some are 6 volt and some are 12 volt. The night light bulbs are 120 volt and will light very dim. Make sure you got the correct bulb from an appliance part dealer. They will need your model number of the fridge. Or check on line parts stores like www.vvapplianceparts.com.

Fridge light does not work.

Some appliances have electrical schematics on the back of the fridge, some are hidden behind rear cover. Wire,Switch or fuse..not much else it could be.

I'm unable to set GE Profile Arctica ridge to recommended temp

OK, First let us check the compressor to see if running or trying to start. Pull away from wall and unplug from wall. Remove lower cover and feel the compressor top of the to see if too hot to hold hand there, cool or warm. look inside freezer and tell me if ice is building on rear wall. Answer that and I will be able to tell you what we need to do, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Light switch appears to have failed. Light sometimes come on when the door is opened but now, it does not come on regardless of toggleing the switch.

This may be as simple as changing the bulb and not the switch. There is a good chance the bulb was loose and barely making a connection or the filament in the bulb was about to burn out. If this has been helpful please rate the solution.

Refrigerator no power

Plug some other device into these same outlets or use a volt meter to verify power at the outlet.
You definitely have a house wire problem if the interior light does not come on and the bulb is good.
Also check 120 volts power at the fridge cord where it attaches to the terminal box.

I have a GE side by side refrigerator model # PSS26SGRD and the water and ice dispenser stops working without any warning or symptom intermintently. It will be working find for days or weeks and suddenly...

Well, the solution to this problem was posted in this thread
http://www.fixya.com/support/t1295372-ge_profile_ref_ice_despenser_motor_not

It seems that the bulb in the front panel is pulling to much current as it ages and it makes the control panel in not work properly. Removing the bulb will fix the problem - just fixed mine.

Also seems to match your symptoms (works sometimes and then not others - bulb current is inconstent, light dims when dispense lever pressed - again wrong current draw).

Good luck

GE Refrigerator

If you have heating in the freshfood side there is only one possible. The light inside is staying on and allowing the bulb to heat up the refrigerator. To fix this you will need to replaced the door switch. To check simply unscrew the light bulbs and see if the problem goes away, or open the door and push on the door switch and see if the light is going off. Please let me know if this is not the problem and I will be happy to help. Please let me know if this did FixYa.

Problem with fresh food side of my refrigerator freezer

The bulbs dim glow is a worry, sounds like not enough voltage is getting there. If you are comfortable with a multimeter, check what the voltage is at the bulb socket. If you have a low voltage issue due to say the transformer not working properly then the fan will also have low voltage (or no voltage). No power, no fan, no cooling. I'd suspect there are voltage issues with that transformer, especially since it's a 240 VAC model. A transformer typically steps down the 240 volts to 120 volts for light bulbs and maybe even the fans (or the whole refer). The repair man may be correct in that the transformer is built in to a circuit board but it COULD be a stand alone transformer.
