  • Remove third-party iTunes plug-ins:
    • On Windows XP and Windows 2000, iTunes plug-ins are stored in the following location:
      C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunes Plug-ins
Note: The "Application Data" folder is hidden by default. Choose Tools > Folder Options in the file browser window, then click the View tab and change the "Hidden files and folders" option to "Show hidden files and folders."

I have install iTunes, but every time I try to open ION, it tells me to download it again. I can't get past this spot.

Suggestion:
1) Use the free version of Revo Uninstaller to uninstall iTunes.
https://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html
2) Reboot
3) Run the free version of CCleaner
https://www.ccleaner.com/
4) Reboot
5) Make sure your Windows system is supported by the version of iTunes you are installing. Recommend downloading latest version of iTunes from https://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
6) Disable any anti-virus/anti-malware
7) Install iTunes
8) Reboot
9) Enable any anti-virus/anti-m,alware (if not already enabled)

If that doesn't work, create a new Windows profile, and repeat steps 4-9. If iTunes runs in the new Windows profile, your original profile may be the problem - not iTunes.

I cannot install School house rock 3rd and 4th grade

There are workarounds besides using an older version of Windows (dual boot or a separate machine). This requires a licensed version of the older Windows OS. However, if you have the most common version of Windows 7 - Home Premium x64, you'll have to spend some money.

School House Rock - 3rd and 4th Grade works with Win98-XP. So, you can run a virtual computer with the older version of the Windows OS. Then install the School House Rock program into the virtual version of Windows as if it were the only copy of Windows. If you have Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate, or upgrade to one of these versions, you can do this for free. Download and install Virtual PC and XP mode from Microsoft (in order). Other virtual computer programs are VMWare and Parallels. However, with those, you need to buy the program and have a licensed version of the Windows OS.

If you have the 32-bit version of Windows 7, you can try the compatibility mode. (To check your version, click Start > Control Panel > System and Security > System. If the title of the OS ends with x64, you have the 64-bit version. Otherwise, you have the 32-bit version.) If you have the 32-bit, right click on the installer for the School House Rock software. Select Properties and then the Compatibility Tab. Check the Run this program in the compatibility mode and an older version of Windows. Then click Apply and then OK. Right click on the installer again and select Run As Administrator. You may need to repeat this for the program itself.

I hope this helps.

I have windows 7 with the latest version of Itunes, and I've recently bought the new video nano, but it never wants to connect. The message comes up that an ipod has been detected but cannot be synced,...

You need to find the iTunes.exe program file. I'm not sure where it is on Windows 7, possibly under "c:\Program Files\iTunes".

Once you find iTunes.exe, right-click on it, select "Properties", then "Compatability" tab. Inside "Privilege Level", check off "Run this program as an administrator".

Itunes .exe has been set to run in compatibility mode for an older version of windows. i already tried to change version but cant find windows 7 version also turned off compatibility still no luck

Unfortunately, even though I'd turned off compatibility mode for iTunes (by right-clicking the iTunes icon, choosing Properties, clicking the Compatibility tab, and clearing the Compatibility mode checkbox), the program generated this irksome message every time I ran it:

iTunes.exe has been set to run in compatibility mode for an older version of Windows. For best result, turn off compatibility mode of iTunes before you open it.

Sigh. Stupid Windows. Or maybe stupid iTunes. Either way, compatibility mode was "off," but iTunes didn't think so.

Fortunately, I finally found a solution:

1. Make sure iTunes isn't running.

2. Click Start, type regedit, then press Enter.

3. Navigate to this Registry location: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers

4. Look in the main pane for a key that refers to iTunes. If you find one, delete it, then exit the Registry.

5. Start iTunes. The offending message should be gone!
