I have been using presario CQ50 compaq laptop, it was working fine but as time went on the laptop felt as though it was starting to overheat and would randomly turn off, i wasnt sure if maybe it was the fan which failed to cool the laptop down, i didnt bother seeing to this problem. Then i tried charging it and turning it on one time and the battery light kept flashing saying the battery had died even though the charger was plugged in and the laptop wouldnt start, I left the laptop for a couple of months and today i tried again but there was no power whatsoever, the battery light wasnt even flashing and the laptop wouldnt turn on, im not sure whether to get a new charger in case that is the problem

1) Unplug the laptop. 2) Press and hold down the standby switch under the lid in the upper left hand side of the laptop while pressing down the power key. You should have full power startup now. Let me know if it worked..

you might have shot out your battery because if electrical curent is goging in to the computer (te orange light is going on) but the computer wont turn on it might be a problem with your battey

I'm sorry to say this sounds like a system board failure. On my HP DV200t, a very similiar issue occured, eventually only the led where you plug in the power cord would turn blue. I replaced the system board and all the issues went away.

2 possible solutions to this

1. Use the roll back function of your operating system to roll back to the last back up.

2. Insert your restore disk or Windows disk and do a format/clean install.

If you have a restore disc it will have prompts to "restore" your system and give you a warning about losing data-save off what you want BEFORE doing this restore

If you have standard windows disk you may want to use the format utility in windows first to clean the drive and do a fresh install.

Once installed don't forget to download updates and back up and then reload your other software.

have fun this will take several hours depeneding on the amount of stuff you have to reload and patch up.
