By Security Key, you mean the WEP/WPA Key that you entered when you setup the Router?

Use your browser and access the Router. Login to the application that is on the Router and look for your 'key' on the menu dealing with your WEP/WPA setup. That should be your key.

Also, get your SSID info as well, so you can setup your Wireless Network Card so it can 'see' your wireless network.

Hope that helps.

Hi,
Welcome to Fixya. If you need the WEP key or Network Key you need to access the Wireless Settings Page.

To access the router page just open a browser then type 192.168.1.1, the Default username is blankand the password is admin. Go to the Wireless Tab select Wireless Security under the Security Mode you will see there Network Key or Wep Key. The Network Key or Wep Key serves as a password or security code on your network to make it secure.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Brought a new laptop with wireless installed have a philips SNB5600 but have lost the security key how can i get the code

go to the wireless access point admin settings (not on your wireless adapter on your laptop). then check wireless security settings. if you see something there such as security key, that is the security key that you need to set up on your laptop. if security key is not visible, try to see if there is an option there which says unmask to show the security key, then copy it to your laptop. if all else fails, change the security key in the wireless access point and change all the wireless adapters that connect to it accordingly to the new security key you set it up.

Cannot connect new laptop to wireless network. Belkin Wireless N

The wireless settings on the laptop and the router should match. To check the settings on the router you need to access the setup page by typing 192.168.2.1 in a web browser's address bar.

By default the password is blank.

Click the Wireless tab. And take note of the SSID or wireless network name.

Go to Security, then Wireless. If the wireless security is enabled, copy the network key or security key.

On the wireless computer, you should detect SSID and if wireless security is enabled, connect to it with the correct security keys.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

How do I copy the security key?

the solution to this one is you need to reconfigure the router. you need to disable the security settings for your router. (WEP or WPA) then try to put in a new SSID and new security key. that's the only way that you can get a new security/passphrase key for your network. for further assistance you need to contact the router manufacturer for router configuration.

i hope this helps.
