Hey Storm, I'm not sure if you have resolved this issue yet, but I if you have not, here is the solution.
With the powersource dual technology * Hybrid *
The sim cards are only compatible with other Hybrid phones, Here's an example, a ic502 sim card will NOT work in a i850/i580 so on and so forth.
The reason for this is because the compatibility is too far ranged, and if you are trying to use another providers sim card, that will not work in any nextel phone.
What you can do is go to a Sprint/Nextel service and repair location and they should be able to sell you a hybrid sim card. Let me know how it goes, and if I have resolved your issue, please rate me.
P.S. No sprint or nextel phone can be unlocked....basically from what I have seen, it is the only provider that does not offer this service, It HAS to say Sprint or Nextel on the screen

Well if you cant use it with a t-mobile.. but is it possible to use it with a Boost Mobile SIM card?

That will not work. The Motorola ic502 is a Sprint/Nextel Hybrid phone. It uses CDMA and iDEN technology. your old t-mobile phone uses GSM technology. There is no way to use that t-mobile sim in the ic502.

SOURCE: unlock ic502
You cannot use a Boost sim card in the phone, it HAS to be a powersource sim card. You may be able to purchase one of these at a Sprint Nextel Repair location, or via Customer Care Sales. Let me know how it goes, I do apologize for the incovience.
Please rate me if solution works

Your phone is locked to a mobile phone provider. You need to contact this mobile provider to ask for the unlock code (security code) for your phone. You need to provide proof of ownership etc and the phone's unique IMEI number which is located inside the phone under the battery. They use this number to generate the unlock code for your phone.
They should provide you with instructions on how to enter this code into the phone.
Once you unlock the phone, then you can insert a new SIM card in the phone.
