This is most probably due to a worn out or clogged Control Valve Assembly.
Detach the hose and see if it runs. If it does, place hand over hole. If it shuts off, CVA is probably the cause. A clogged CVA is generally due to using generic/made-to-fit bags. Genuine bags have "Home Solutions" printed on them.
You can try turning the dial all the way to the large dot, then try to run the vacuum.
If it is the CVA, you'll need to take it to an authorized Aerus Electrolux store and have their service tech repair or replace the part. I recommend a service and clean of the vacuum at the same time. This will extend the life of the vacuum.

Testimonial: "Super reply! Thanks for specific info. I detached the hose and (dang it) had the same problem. The bags are genuine, so it looks like a dealer repair."

Bag shows full when it's empty. No clog in the hose, but when I start to vacuum, the bag-full indicates FULL, even though it's a new bag.

See if there are any sponge filters that might be clogged. They're usually between the bag and the air flow going to the motor.

I have the Miele cat & dog S5000 vacuum. I have had it about 1 year and lately the suction doesn't seem as strong and the full bag indicater is always full. I have followed instructions in manual but...

Greetings,

I would say that you have a slight clog in the hose or in the power nozzle somewhere. The full bag indicator is just a guage that will indicate full when it feels like it's lost suction. Example: If you were to take the hose and cover it with your hand, you'll notice that bag full indicator will show full.

To check and see where the clog in the vacuum is, remove the wands and floor attachment so you just have the hose on the vacuum cleaner. With just the hose attached, turn the vacuum cleaner on. Does it still show a full bag? If yes, then remove the hose completely from the vacuum cleaner so it's just the canister part by itself and turn on the vacuum again. If the bag full indicator is now showing an empty bag, this means that you have a clog in your hose.

If the bag full indicator displayed an empty bag when you had the hose on the vacuum, but shows a full bag when you have the wands and floor tool attached, this means that you have a clog in the vacuum either in the wands, or the floor attachment.

For removing clogs from the hose, the quickest way is to just purchase a plumbers snake at your local hardware store, and run the snake through the hose until you find the clog. You may also take a high pressure hose and spray it down the hose until the clog is cleared, but if you use a water hose, MAKE SURE the hose is 100% dry before you use it again.

Also that bag full indicator can be adjusted if you are getting a lot of suction power and it still shows full.

I hope that these suggestions helped you diagnosis your Miele canister to figure out why the indicator showed full. If this helped you please rate my repair helpful.

Feel free to contact me if you need further assitance, I'm always happy to help.

Put in new bag but as soon as we turn vacuum on motor stops red light comes(bag full)

make sure the bag is installed properly and the bag door is making contact with the small switch by the bag.

Stopped working, lights work, shows full light when not full.

Remove the bag and put in a fresh bag. Then rotate the dial on top of the vac to the middle position. When cleaning fine dust the vac will shut off before the bag is full as it is sensing a clogged bag and cannot sense proper air flow through the bag. If this persists the sensor under teh top dial may be damaged and need to be replaced

Electrolux Epic 6500SR Full Bag sensor working, Does not Reset properly

The problem was a sticking switch that was not being reset. The vacuum on/off switch mechanism is comprised of two switches. One is the main switch that turns the vacuum on and off. The second is a shut off switch that gets tripped when the full bag sensor is engaged. This second switch is supposed to get reset when you push the on/off switch on the outside of the machine. The full bag shutoff switch was stiff and it, therefore, was taking a couple of presses of the on/off switch to move the shutoff switch back into the running position.

Red "bag is full" indicator shows even though new bag has been put in and vacuum cleaner wont pick up. Also floor adjustment does not adjust. This is for a powerforce model 3522 series

The red light tell you that it is sensing a full bag. But a clog in the hose or the inlet down by the brush roll will also do this.

Empty bag shows as Full

You have a clog, either in the hose, the dirt inlet by the brush roll or the filters are clogged.
