    Set won't power on. When the power button is pushed the set clicks, but the power light does not come on. On the right circuit board (viewing from the rear, about the center 3-4 inches from the rear a red LED comes on blinks 3 times then stays on until the power button is pressed again.

Good day, papamotts;

Hitachi has LED’s, green ‘lights’ and a red light to determine what circuit may be the problem; after removing the back of TV, bottom only, plug TV back in and observe which LED’s come on …..BUT most important which LED’s don’t come on; locate and note number, EG; DP37 and etc.

Good luck, big IRISH. Ps let me know.

Have Hitachi LE42LS256, SN LE42LS256 SK2J000667 power surges. went off,came back on,could hear sound no picture, then the sound went out.blue on light on set is on, no sound or picture.

The chipset in the TV could be failing, I would say replace the bulb for the picture, however if you are getting no sound its safe to say the motherboard is probably toast. Projection TVs, and HD TVs in general produce a lot of internal heat. Over time it will damage the circuit boards, maybe time for a new TV!

I press bottom tv comes on then goes back off

On this model the power board will need to be completely resoldered, that is your problem.

I Have a Hitachi Ultravision projetion TV Ned help to fix it.

This sounds like the solder joints on one of the convergence output IC's have cracked loose or the IC itself is defective and quitting when it warms up. The IC needs to be either resoldered or replaced.

I have the same problem with mine. i,m pretty sure that it is the built in surge protector is bad. Try unplugging the tv for 30 seconds then plug it back in and turn it on. If your surge protector has not completely gone bad this might work a few times. mine won't turn on at all anymore.
