Xbox 360 I have two HDMI cables going into the TV for the Dvd and the Cable. How can you hook a Xbox 360 up through the back of the Receiver and go through and display on the tv

What kind of receiver? Do you have anything else like DVD player going thru receiver? My receiver has 3 hdmi in and 1 out (to tv) so all those equipment would just go to "hdmi" on tv.
Another way to do it is put your tv on exterior audio... for all sound to go thru your receiver.

How to Connect XBOX 360


This is the back of the Xbox 360. The ports for the power cable, A/V cable, and ethernet cable are pretty easy to find. When you set up your Xbox 360, make sure it is in a well ventilated area that is free of dust. Dust and overheating are the two main causes of problems in electronics so choosing the right placement for your Xbox 360 is important.


This is the standard Xbox 360 A/V cable that comes with the premium version of the Xbox 360. The wide silver end connects to your Xbox 360 while the other end connects to your TV. The Yellow (video) cable is for standard, non-HDTV sets. You will also use the Red+White audio cables for a standard set. If you have a newer TV or an HDTV set, you can use the Red+Green+Blue video connections along with the Red+White audio connections.


This shot shows what the back of most TVs look like. If you have a standard TV, you'll only have the Yellow+Red+White connections. If you have a newer TV or HDTV, you should have the same connections that are shown in the pic. This step isn't too hard since the cables from the Xbox 360 and ports on the back of your TV are all color-coded.


If, and only if, you have an HDTV and want to use your Xbox 360 in 480p, 720p, or 1080i resolutions you have to slide a little switch over on your A/V cable. On the end of the A/V cable that connects to the Xbox 360, there is a little switch that you'll need to click over. If you do not have an HDTV, you can skip this step.


Now that you have the audio/video cables connected, the next step is to hook up the power supply. Connect the two parts as shown in the picture and then connect the "power brick" end to your Xbox 360 and the other end to a wall outlet. The big power brick needs plenty of ventilation just like the main system so try to have an open space on a shelf for it. It is not recommended that you set it on the carpet.


Once you have everything hooked up, you are ready to go. Press the large circular power button to get things started. If you have a wired controller, plug it into a USB port behind the little USB door. If you have a wireless controller, hold the silver "X" button in the middle of the controller until the upper left quadrant of the system power button as well as the ring around the "X" button on the controller light up. If it doesn't light up, press the controller connect button on the Xbox 360 as well as the connect button on the top of the controller.
If this is the first time the system has been used, you'll have to go through an onscreen setup process. This is simply setting up your player profile, choosing HDTV settings if available, and/or signing up for Xbox Live service. The system walks you through everything.
Now you are ready to play.

Hook your X Box into the Receiver HDMI input with your HDMI cable and another HDMI cable from the HDMI out on the receiver to the HDMI input on your TV.

To correct this problem you have to go to the display settings on your xbox and turn off display detect.

you have to connect the digital audio cable from your xbox360 to your receiver. fiber optic cable. set the xbox audio output to dolby digital.

You will need an additional HDMI cord...you can get them without getting ripped off by purchasing at bluejeanscable.com.

Connect your HDMI out from the xbox to the receiver. Connect the additional HDMI cable to the "out" HDMI connection on the receiver and connect the other end of it to your TV.

I recently got the same receiver and had the same problem. Here's what I was told - and it worked for me:

Even though HDMI cables carry audio and video, for whatever reason this reciever won't accept audio through hdmi. Apparently only much more expensive recievers carry audio through hdmi. What you have to do is run optical audio cables from your xbox, cable box, dvd player or other video device to the optical inputs on the back of the reciver. Then you customize the scene buttons to match your video and audio inputs.

You can get these optical cables pretty cheap on line or even at target. Don't get ripped off by Best Buy for these cables. I love best buy, but they rip off on cables!

This receiver is great - once I got it all figured out and running right I've loved it! Hope everything works out for you!

I had this issue once before, recheck all the conenctions on the tv, and make sure that the HDMI plug in for the TV * if its the older model * make sure it is placed to HDMI not TV.

Hook up Composite / Component Monitor Out wire from receiver to TV video input because receiver will not change analog input into HDMI
You need to connect receiver and TV through analog video terminals as above.
Actually you are expecting that receiver will convert DVD player and Xbox analog video input into digital HDMI signal for TV and This is incorrect.

why dont u connect the xbox directly to the tv via HDMI cable? the output will be fantastic.The component cables just cannot give a better resolution than HDMI.
As for connections,i am not in favour of component and HDMI together.
