Horizontal lines, they can go away for awhile if we move the TV, but they come back. Most annoying. Can't figure out if there is such a thing as a "horizontal hold" button on this thing, but I think not. What do I do?

Hello

If your TV has nice thread like horizontal lines on the entire screen, at aboug 1 inch apart or so, it is due to the high screen voltage. In some sets, this voltage may go high due to a defect in screen control adjust preset, integrated to line output transformer [LOT].
You just open your tv and locate the screen adjust control. It can be seen on the above said LOT itself. There will be two adjustable controls, one for adjusting focus voltage, and the other for adjusting the screen voltage.
Dont touch the focus adjuster. The screen adjuster will be at the bottom of the focus control, and both of them have visual markings there stating 'Focus' and 'Screen'.
Just turn the screen adjust control a little, while looking the picture on the screen, and adjust it till the lines on your screen just disappears. Never turn more than this position. The turning must be counterclokwise, not clokwise, as this should shut of your TV.
Take every precautions when we works with an elelctrical equipment. As high as 25,000VDC points are there, while tv is working, you should be very cautious. Do this with confidence. Take care. OK.

Horizontal lines on LG TV

I hate to give you bad news but about 90% of the time horizontal lines come from a bad panel and if that's the case the set isn't worth fixing as a panel costs hundreds of dollars

Problems witha toshiba rear projection 2002 50h71 model

sounds like you might have the hypermodule capacitor problem. there is a cuircit board in this set that has 11 very very small capacitors that go bad this is charistic of wavey lines that go away after warming up. and eventally not going away. we repair about 2 of these a month at our shop. we would loved to just replace the board but this board is not availble we cant find it. so we very carefully resolder these caps. with magnifers and twezzers. so i dont recomend anybody attempt this except experience technician., you can easly damage this board and once damaged u cant find the board.

Sony tv problem

You have a loose solder connection or two. If I knew the model number of the set, I could be more specific. I would expect the repair would run about a hundred dollars, so make sure the picture quality is great before going to the expense.

Toshiba colorstream 27A33 TV

1.Are these lines only in the upper 1/3 rd portion of the screen? And is there a clear demarcation between this area and the lower portionb, where the image is perfect? 2.Or is thin Horizontal lines evenly spaced around an centimetre apart? If it is the first case, then there si a problem with your TVs SMPS. It is not generating the required regulated 110V required for the TVs functioning. If it is case 2, then there is a simple adjustment at the back - 'SCREEN'. This adjusts the Screen Grid Voltage, and by slightly lowering it, this problem will go away.
