1. Using a computer that is plugged into the router directly with a network cable, open a web browser.

2. In the "Address Bar" type http://192.168.1.1 and press Enter.

3. A box should appear asking for a "User Name" and a "Password". Leave the "User Name" field empty, and type your WRT54G router password into the "Password" field (the default "Password" is admin) and click the OK button or press [Enter].

4. The WRT54G "Setup" page should now appear. Click onto the Wireless page.

5. When the "Wireless" page loads, you should be on the Basic Wireless Settings sub-section.

6. Look for the "Wireless Channel" option. The default channel is set to "6 - 2.437GHz". Change it to either "1 - 2.412GHz", or "11 - 2.462GHz".

7. Click on the Save Settings button toward the bottom of the page to save changes. Click Continue when prompted to reload the page.

8. The channel of your WRT54G has now been changed. Restart your wireless computers so that they can automatically connect using the new channel.

9. If you still experiencing interference using channels 1, 6, or 11, try switching the router to the other channels as well (2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10) and find one that captures a good connection.

Router frequently freezes when using with iPad although router signal is strong.

What about your phone? Does it work for the phone? If not, then you might need to check the internet connection. Sometimes the router shows strong signal but actually not connected to the Internet. If the Internet works for your phone, then check the wifi settings on your iPad. Select another channel if possible. Or reset the wireless setting and try again. If all fails, try to use this iPad on another wifi spot and see whether there is a problem with the wireless card with it.

I cannot get internet on my laptop from an open access point with Time Warner internet

Hello,

Though you are getting strong signals from the router, the router itself may not be connected to the Internet. The owner may leave the router on but power off the modem. It is possible that they may use the router for thier own private network with no connection to the Internet. When you connect to the router, check your network and sharing center to see if you see an X marked on the connection between the router and the Internet. If you do, the router is not connected to the modem.

Good Luck

I INSTALLED A NEW NETWORK ADAPTER D-LINK AND NOW. SHOWS VERY STRONG SIGNAL BUT ITS VERY SLOW TO COME UP OR TO CHANGE FROM 1 WINDOW TO ANOTHER.

this is not the router. if its shows strong signal that means your router is up and running smoothly but when its ran throught your internet it failes to find a good access point. this can be fixed by calling your internet provider and seeing if thier systems are compatable to your router.

My netgear usb connects to my wireless belkin..but no internet ?

this message comes when your computer is not getting the IP address from the router.
There are possible reasons for that.
1. DHCP on the router may be disabled.
2. If your network is secured , then you might not be typing the correct network key.

In both the cases , you will need to check the settings of the router.
You will need to access the router set up.

I have a WCG200 linksys but can not go onto internet.

from what i have read, your router is broadcasting a signal, and your modem has an open and active internet gateway.

pls make sure that the connection from the modem to the router are correct. the modem should be connected in the port with the label internet. you may have to reset your modem AFTER you have connected the wireless router to allow the router to be assigned an ip. now with the wireless router and broadband modem connected, you can connect to the network and access the internet. pls repost if you hit any snags
GOOD LUCK and PLS rate this post.

Belkin F5D8633 router - connected wireless to two laptops, two iphones and a printer. After working for a while, first one then the other laptop stops access to the web. The signal is showing strong but...

Are you running XP? have you made any changes to the router or the laptops recently?

Limited or no conectivity suggests that the IP has not been renewed. Have you tried rebooting the Router and the laptops?

Right click on the "wireless" icon in the botton right of the task bar and select status and then select the support tab. What is the Address type and IP address shown?

Try pressing "repair"
