I just replaced my ps3 lazer lens, when I started the consol back up I got error code 80010514. I need help on what that is and how to fix it

It could be 2 things.

1. You need to clean your lens.
2. Your lens is dead, and you would need to get it replaced.

this error code (80010514) is indeed a hardware failure, to be more specific, the Blueray drive has failed and the system will not run like this. If you can still avail the warranty, then sent it back for replacement under warranty. I hope this may help you,

Error 80010514 simply translates as "Error reading disks".

This is a very common problem on the Ps3 and is a strong sign that your Bluray drive is malfunctioning.

Sometimes you can resolve it by gently cleaning the laser lens with a Q-Tip and some isopropyl alcohol but most often the lens itself will need replacing.

I have included this excellent walk-through on how you can do this yourself.

Please be sure the console is disconnected from the mains supply before carrying out any of this type of work.

Otherwise the unit will have to be returned to Sony who generally replace the whole drive unit including the lens. Total cost from Sony is $150 to make the repair.

go under settings then system settings then restore default settings

you need to call Sony and tell them about the error..its like the RROD of Xbox360..a hardware failure,most likely with the lens mechanism..i had the same error too and had to pay up to get it repaired..hope your console is under warranty..all the best!regards!

your error means this according to what I could find out : 80010514 - Disc error detected. Retrying operation. Do your other games work. If so, then you may have a bad game disc. Or it may be scratched or dirty. If your other discs work, then I would try this game on someone elses unit, or check it for dirt/fingerprints. If that doesnt work, you could try a cd lens cleaner disc..it may help.
