I had by mistake upgrade my iphone 3g 8gb to iso 4.1 but as u know that is not unlockable so i downgrade from iso 4.1 to 40 with redsnow and also jalibroke it but i still cant unlock it with ultra snow as it says my baseband is 05.14.02 i tried to downgrade the baseband with fuzzy band but it says my bootloader is 5.09 it should be lower than that please help me

As on date 3.1.3 firmware with baseband 05.12.01 can only be jail broken (using spiritjb.com). It cannot be unlocked to be used with other GSM carriers.

iOS 3.1.2 is obsolete already. You can still jailbreak and unlock with the latest iOS 4.0.1. You just need to update thru iTunes and read my guides on jailbreaking and unlocking on the following links:

Hi Karin, to best of my knowledge you cannot update a 3G much beyond iOS 4.2.1 or so. I think even the 4G does not allow newest iOS 8.1.2 - the 4S does.
Even if you mean Mac OS the newest version is 10.10 - 11.1 may be in beta, but not anything that would effect your 3G.

Unlock assistance for iphone 3g 4.2.1
When you ask to unlock is it so that you can use it on another carrier i.e on vodafone instead of t mobile
if so it can be done but you will have to upgrade your basband to 6.5 (i think it is ) which is from a apple ipad. then you can run unlock software which will unlock the sim. Please note there is no way to downgrade the baseband so once you upgrade it there is no going back and apple will know this if the phone is under warranty

You can download a downgrade in firmware for the iphone from felix bruns website. Then when you open up itunes you can choose which firmware file to use for a restore by holding down the shift key when you hit the restore tab. Then choose the lower firmware version you downloaded. Once you have downgraded your firmware, blackra1n is the software you need to unlock and jailbreak it. It is extremely user friendly, and google is your friend to find it free. Remember to back up all of the data on your iphone before tryng any of these proceedures. Good luck!

Iphone showing no service
If it was bought unlocked for under $700 then it was unlocked illegally after updgrading to 3.0 it is locked again. If you upgrade to any of appples unpdates your phone will be locked each time and you will have to wait for an unlock solution to be released each time. Currently there is no way to unlock the 3g under 3.0 firmware only the 2g is unlockable to the 3.0...I know case i have one. Jailbreaking and unlocking are different.You have to downgrade your firmware to unlock it. Restore your phone via iTunes using one of your old backups, you should be fine.
