I had the same problem and used a tool to clean out the suction tube on my Windtunnel Series T. It was full of junk packed in tight. After cleaning it out there's no more turning off or overheating. It actually works better than when I first got it (used from a friend).

SOURCE: where is reset button on Hoover Wind Tunnel

Hello my good friend, this cleaner doesn't have a reset button or anything, it resets by itself after cooling down, it takes about 30 minutes to cools down.

SOURCE: Hoover Wind Tunnel ON/Off Switch

This happens all the time on our vacuum. Just remove the handle and switch the button manually inside. You will have to do this from time to time as the power switch on the outside will constantly stop working. This, along with the belt replacements are the common complaints on this machine.

SOURCE: Hoover wind tunnel vacuum cleaner shuts off during use

Motor front bearing retainer probably melted from grit. Replace motor. The motor's rotor is dragging on the stator.

Mine was under warranty and they replaced the whole assembly for free. Apparently a quality and/or design problem.

My hoover wind tunnel just quit while vacuuming. It is dead??? Two years old used about every other week? Any suggestions?

Some Wind Tunnels by Hoover have a poor design in the switch on the handle. Sometimes the switch does not turn on all the way and will stop running. Other times you can't turn the unit off.

Why won't my hover wind tunnel vacuum turn on

First of all you have checked to make sure you are plugging into a outlet that has power correct ? If you have power at the outlet then when you activate the switch does it make any noise at all ? If not you may have a defective switch. If it's making a noise you may have a broken belt or something jammed in the brush.

Hoover Wind Tunnel T Series Bagless Rewind -

To answer this question requires knowing specific model information. T-Style, for example, could use one of 4 different belts, depending on the features of that particular model. Just like your Firebird T-type may have different upholstery, audio system, or engine. More information needed.

How do you change the Hoover wind tunnel belts?

If you turn the vacuum over there will be (4) screws that hold on the base cover for the roller brush. Remove the screws and the cover and you can get to the belt(s). You can get replacement belts here:

Hoover Wind Tunnel does not turn on

that is a pretty good lifespan for a hoover, but its probably the power switch that's bad. Hoover uses a very poor quality switch. It shouldn't cost to much to have it replaced
