Poweredge 700 will not recognized memory

Unless only one 256-MB memory module is installed, the modules must be installed in identical pairs. If you want 512MB total, you will need to populate by using two identical 256MB modules or use the same technique for larger memory sticks. That model supports up to 4GB ram of the following type;

Note:

1. Before you install memory module on this motherboard, please read below message to avoid any improper installation: - Due to chipset limitation, if you plan to install three or four memory modules on this motherboard, please install only single-sided memory modules. To install two memory modules on this motherboard, please install them on DDR3_A1 and DDR3_B1 DIMM sockets.
2. For the detailed installation information, please refer to the user manual or quick installation guide. - Due to the operating system limitation, the actual memory size may be less than 4GB for the reservation for system usage under Windows 32-bit OS. For Windows 64-bit OS with 64-bit CPU, there is no such limitation.

I am trying to install Memory in my GT5252 desktop. After I install it my computer will only boot to a black screen

First, make sure it is the right type of memory.
Second, If the memory is correct, take out the original memory and install the new memory.
If it boots , leave the new mmemory in and install the old memory. Again, test to see if it will boot.

  • Make sure that you are working in a static safe environment. Remove any plastic bags or papers from your work space, and make sure to keep your computer plugged in but with the power turned off. Keeping your PC plugged in will keep the case grounded, thus reducing the chance of damaging the module or system. Touch an unpainted metal part of your case before touching your new modules or any other components in your system.
  • Remove and reinstall the modules to make sure that they are seated securely in the socket.
  • Make sure that your new memory is the same type as your old memory (i.e. FPM/EDO/SDRAM, parity/non-parity/ECC, buffered/unbuffered). Using EDO or SDRAM in a system that does not support it will not work, often resulting in a blank screen and no POST (power on self test), or a BIOS/CMOS setup error.
  • Fill your slots starting with the largest density and working to the smallest (put the largest module in slot 0, and the second largest in slot 1, and so on). Some systems go in reverse order, so if this doesn't work, try reversing the procedure.
  • If you get a memory mismatch error follow the prompts to enter setup, then select save and exit. (This is not an error - some systems must do this to update their CMOS settings.)
  • If your system is only reading half of the new module's memory, and the module has chips on both sides, then your system probably will only recognize single-banked or single-sided modules. Please return the memory and request single-sided modules with the same density.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

Thanks, Joe

Installed 2GB of RAM (2x1GB). Laptop only recognizing 1GB. How do I get Sony Vaio VGN FS 760 to recognize 100% of RAM?

Sony VAIO VGN-FS 760/W supports PC-3200 400MHz and PC2-4200 533MHz DDR2 RAM
Expandable up to 2GB. Please make sure that both RAM Chips are according to the above specification, compatible with yout system and both sticks are the same (make & bus speed). Try using one RAM at a time and swaping RAM slots to see if the amount of memory is shown correctly. Memory is not recognized only when it is not up to the specifiction. If the RAM sticks are ok, the system shoud recognize them.

Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.
Good Luck!
Hope this helps!

My Inspiron 1525 does not recognize the memory I added. It had 3GB, I removed the 1GB and added a 2GB. When it did not register the additional memory, I put the old one back in and it now does not...

Once you change the ram, you have to boot to the system setup so that the BIOS can recognize the new module.
When inserting the ram module in the slot, it should be at a 30 degree angle to the system and inserted till the golden contacts can not be seen looking straight down at the slot. Then press the module down until the retention clips click. The top edge of the contacts should then be barely visible.
Once the RAM has been properly inserted, then boot to the system setup, exit then boot to windows

My laptop recognize or reject this module.

The new memory MUST be the same type as what is already in there.

SYSTEM DOESN'T RECOGNIZE NEW MEMORY MODULE

Memory modules must be the correct type and speed, and be within the specifications for the laptop. Just because it fits in the slot doesn't mean it will work.

The Dell inspiron B130 has 2 slots. Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-5300 with a maximum of 1GB per slot. if you tried to insert a 2GB module, it will not work.

If the module is within these parameters, remove and re-seat the memory, and try swapping the modules from one slot to the other. It may be a bad slot.

Memory upgrade

We have the memory you need. Memory-Up is committed to provide the best memory and excellent services for all of our customers. We know that sometimes it is a bit confusing to buy the correct type, speed, and capacity of memory for your system. Therefore we hope that these tips below would help you for buying the new memory.
Memory Upgrade Tips

What is Compatibility and Memory Density Issue?

Memory module can be composed using different type of memory chips and therefore created different type of density for the module. For instance, a 512MB PC2700 DDR SODIMM memory can be composed using eight 32x16(High Density 512Mb technology) memory chips or sixteen 32x8(Low Density 256Mb technology) memory chips. As the laptops are equipped with different memory chipsets, some older laptop (chipset) would have compatibility issue working with the modules that is built with the newer 512Mb technology. Using the Not-Compatible memory will result the laptop to either not boot or only recognizing half of the memory modules. Thus that is not the correct memory for your system. Our Memory Finder and Memory Scanner will help to eliminate those problems and find the correct memory for you. We guaranteed the memory to work or your money back.

How much memory do I need?

Here are some general descriptions for different type of users and the amount of memory they would need for their systems.

Normal User: The system is mainly used for checking e-mails, processing word/excel file, and web surfing. Suggestion: 512MB to 1GB of system memory.

Power User: The system is mainly used for playing computer games, editing photos/videos, running database queries, or multi-tasking environment. (Surfing web/Processing Word/Excel File/Listening to Music). Suggestion: 1GB to 2GB of system memory.

Super User: The system is mainly used for running large number of database queries, professional editing of photos/videos, heavy multi-tasking environment. Usually a server or a workstation would be considered as Super User due to the multiple accesses from users. Suggestion: 2GB and above of system memory.

How much memory and memory slot do I have with my system?

You can download our Memory-Scanner to find out the the amount of memory that you have and the memory slots that are available for upgrade.

How many memory module should I buy?

It is recommended to purchase one module with bigger capacity than two modules with smaller capacity. For instance, if you can buy either one 1GB memory module or two 512MB memory modules for your system, it is recommended to get one 1GB and leave the other memory slot empty for future upgrade if necessary.

Note: For systems that supports dual channel memory mode, although memory modules need to be installed in pairs to enable Dual Channel Memory Mode, we still recommended users to purchase one bigger module than two smaller modules since Dual Channel Memory Mode has only a minimal improvement in the actual system performance.

What if I want to mix different memory together?

Different sizes/speeds of memory can be used together as long as their specification are qualified by the systems. For instance, a laptop can use one 256MB and one 1GB of memory for the total of 1.25GB system memory. Mixing two different speeds of memory modules would result the system to run at the speed of the slower memory between the two modules. We recommend users to use our Memory Finder or Memory Scanner to find the correct memory for your system.

Memory Recognition

The BIOS recognizes the same speed chip. Say, "PNY 512mb 333mhz 12ns". If you mix and mismatch, the BIOS won't see it even though your motherboard will take the differant type chips. They should all be the same.
