Failing to drain is either a blocked drain line or a broken drain pump. First check inside for blockages. When you first turn it on, you should hear a click and a whirring, that's the drain pump turning on. If you don't hear this, your pump is not working. To replace the pump you will have to order the right part, remove the front panel and install it. It usually goes in from the front, bottom, but it's much easier if you remove the DW and tilt it on it's back. It's a fairly simple install, 2 hoses, 2 wires, a few screws and it drops right in.

If you do hear the pump working, then you likely have a clog and you'll want to trace along the drain line to isolate and remove it manually.

My Kenmore ultra wash dishwasher does not drain all the time. I am now stuck with water in the bottom and has gone through the whole cycle.

The MOST SIMPLE, first thing to check is the drain hose. disconnect it at both ends and BLAST water through it to clean it out... or replace it if it looks questionable...

Kenmore dishwasher water will not stay in there

It sounds like you have a drain hose problem. The drain hose needs to have a rise in it. If it is going down hill or to a drain that is lower than the tub it can drain as fast as it fills.

Kenmore 655 Ultra Wash- dishes not getting clean and have a residue on them when done washing. Arms appear to swing freely.

Does the dishwasher drain the water properly at the end of the rinse cycle. Meaning, is there any leftover water at the bottom of the dishwasher.

Water keeps coming back into dishwasher after cycle is done

sounds like maybe one of your check valve is not working right.

Kenmore dishwasher, water not going through the jets

when you hear the motor running during the wash cycle, check to see if the washer is actually draining instead of washing. this would indicate a stuck open drain valve. (the same motor/pump that washes the dishes, also drains the unit)
