Starts right up and rpms go off the chart and when I try to turn it off I think the stater wont stop. When it does I can start it up again and for now it will run fine. 91 F150 strait 6

sometimes a rubber mallet doesn't work on the stater, you actually have to hit it with something stronger, like a hammer while turning it over. If not check to see if you have a pro lock on your vehicle because if that becomes just a little loose it won't start.
a good area to check is the ignition stater itself. try to knock on the stater under the hood when it does not crank and see if in the process it starts. if it starts then u may need a new stater. you may still need a mechanic to check on the entire electrical system of the engine that inclueds the coils and the sparks. thanks
hi, it could be two things one the stater is going out or your battery cables might have some corrsion. take it too autozone where you can check your battery and stater for free . thank you hope ive been some help.
More than likely it's the map sensor. I remember when i turboed my car i had major problems with the safc and the map sensor. It would act just like yours does. The ecu doesn't use the map sensor in closed loop mode. Open loop starts at 4000rpms and will start reading values from the map. If it is receiving values not in spec then it will limit the rpms and stay locked in closed loop.
Replace the map sensor and let me know how it turns out.
the car flood itself when you remeve the plug you cut the gas pump that why our fuel gauge stop working you probably got a bad temperature sensor take a look at the sensor thank you
