Question about KitchenAid KSM150PS Artisan Series Stand Mixer

1 Answer

I received my mixer as a gift for my birthday in October. The bowl gets stuck and does not release from the base. I have to hit it a number of times with a rubber mallet to get it to release. Also when pouring out the batter, I discover that the batter was not all mixed from the sides and bottom. It seems as though the paddle does not reach close enough to the sides and bottom. Do I have the wrong bowl for this mixer?

If that is the bowl that came with the machine it is not wrong. What happens from time to time is that the head on the mixer automatically adjusts causing the beater to not operate as it should. To adjust the head on the mixer place a dime at the bottom of the bowl, attatch the beater to the mixer and make as if you are going to start mixing. The beater should JUST touch the dime. If it doesn't touch it at all or is pressing it against the bowl, tilt the head of the mixer up to locate the adjustment screw located inside the shaft. Take a flat head screw driver, turn the screw clockwise (to lower the head) or counter clockwise (to raise the head). Place the beater back on the mixer, turn the machine on and see if it moves the dime moves. Once it is properly adjusted the dime should move ever so slightly.

Just another note: your bowl should be a 5QT bowl. Unfortunately there are no numbers on the bowl itself to indicate which one you are using but you should be using a K5THSBP bowl with handle.

How's about why even the "right" bowl would be stuck?

Get the bowl to release from the stand

The only way to unstick it is with more energy. Get someone to hold the motor unit firmly and someone else turn the bowl anti clockwise. There is no magic if it's stuck, just more effort required.

Beater hits side of bowl

What part number did you order for the beater and what is the model number for the mixer? Also is the mixer brand new, or did you get it used and it just started happening?

Try harder, there is only one way to get it off and that is to turn the bowl.

,first time user and the bowl is stuck in new artisian mixer. what do i do

Apply WD40, with the pinpoint sprayer straw attached, all around base and twist in the proper direction as hard as you can! (We had to wrap the bowl in that shelf liner rubbery mat stuff to get a good hold on the bowl since the handle came right off as we were initially working on the problem!) This worked for us. Hope that after 236 days DMLiss might have found another solution??!!<3+

Bowl is stuck in stand - can't get it out. It won't turn clockwise or counter clockwise.

I know they have to turn COUNTER CLOCKWISE to come off the base. Sounds like "magilla the gorilla" put it on the base. Just keep at it. You might try putting some ICE in the bowl to "shrink" the bowl.

My mixing bowl seems to be locked onto my Bosch Universal machine, cannot get it off. Anybody have a solution. I've tried turning it, using a crow bar, etc. the drive shaft still turns but bowl is "...

I had (have) the same problem with mine. It would stick occasionally and then one day it wouldn't come off at all. The bowl would unlock and turn like it should but wouldn't lift off. After much time and effort I did manage to get it off and found that the splines on the shaft were scored. When I examined the receiver part, the lugs (splines?) on it were worn allowing the shaft lugs (splines) to overlap the base lugs and thus becoming jammed.

I cleaned everything completely and made a batch of bread dough and it's stuck again.

I think the base receiver needs replaced but it may be part of the transmission and maybe the whole thing needs replaced, I don't know.

I sent an email and left a message with Bosch service and will post again when I hear from them.

I have used the mixer for about 4 years and love it but this problem shouldn't happen I don't think. It seems like a design flaw to me.

Bowl flies off of base- beaters are hitting the sides of the bowl

There should be a turntable offset to avoid contact ofbeaters and bowl. chk the base for a slide lever.

The motor is loose a little and needs adjusting up, because it hits the bowl when in motion.

I think from your description that the the head connecting to the base shaft needs tightening. Put the mixer on it's side UNPLUGGED. Look up inside the base and you'll see a small set screw.
With a flat blade screw driver tighten that screw and it should stop moving. If it doesn't you probably need another shaft because it's worn. If after tightening it stops rocking but it still hits the bowl there's another screw at the front, on top of the neck under the head. Turn this until it clears the bowl. Good luck!

Bistro Staned Mixer;Mixing bowl is stuck(?) to base

You have to twist the bowl anti-clockwise to release it from the base. Twist clockwise to lock it when using the beaters.
