The filter light is controlled by time interval. Not by how much water that has gone trough it. Your refrigerator does not know that it has a new filter before you tell it that it has. I dont know the brand of your fridge. But there is a reset filter button. Look at the attached picture for a example. On this fridge this picture has to pressed and keep pressed for 10 seconds to reser filter light from red to green
The model number should be just inside your fridge door - look on the inner threshold - there is almost always a sticker there.
Other than that, you could find the sensor and override it - for example, if it's an open-door sensor and it's a lever-switch, just tape the lever down. Personally, I wouldn't do this because my kids would probably leave the door open and cause the compressor to burn up from running too long.
However, find your model number and search for a service manual. From there, you'll be able to track down the buzzer - I suspect it's behind the panel for the ice/water dispenser, assuming it has one.
I have the manual.
From the Left:
(1) The "!" is the red warning indicator - indicates if the temperature is currently lower than set.
(2) "I" is the green power indicator,
(3) "S" is the Yellow Fast Freeze indicator,
(4) "S" is the Fast Freeze switch/button,
(5) "I" is the Off/On switch/button.
(6) - with the coin slot - is the Temperature Regulator.
(I have mine 1/2 way around the dial.)
Not sure which whirlpool, but these are water filters for the drinking and ice water.
it's normally found inside the fridge compartment behind a plastic panel and not necessarily on the side the water dispenser is on.
