Can't get the wireless to work from my wifes computer to my laptop. It eventually boots up so I can access my internet explorer but it takes 25-30 minutes. Dennis

You can remove or change the Window's User or administrator's password and privileges. You need access to a computer with Internet access to download the Hiren's Boot CD and burn it onto a CD. Then insert this CD into the laptop/computer and boot up the laptop/computer with the Hiren's CD and follow the instructions. There are very useful utilities CD and it a Linux boot CD which contains quite a lot of Utility programs including a password removal program. If the problem is with the computer, in the Tray Notification Area, right click on wireless icon and open Network Sharing Center, click on Change Adapter Settings, Is the wireless adapter enabled? In Device Manager, Network Adapters, Is the wireless enabled? Reboot the computer and the wireless access point by removing power and battery and plug in wireless, let it run the selftest, plug in computer and boot normally. You can always Reset the wireless access point to default settings

Check the wireless router and high-speed modem.

If the two are not powered on, or if the Ethernet cable connected the two is not completely inserted into both connection ports, you are unable to access the Internet on the Acer Aspire One laptop computer.

Activate the wireless Internet connection on the laptop computer.

Right-click the wireless icon on the desktop, then choose "Enable" from the pop-up menu.

Without activating the wireless receiver on the Acer Aspire One, the laptop is unable to detect any wireless network.

Select the appropriate network you wish to connect to.

install the wireless driver into the laptop

To connect to the Internet you need a few extra things aswell as a network or wireless card and install the LAN or wireless driver.
1. You need to sign up with an Internet service provider.
2. Connect a LAN cable from your computer to the DSL or cable modem
3. You need a DSL or cable modem and connect and configure the modem to inaccordance with your Internet service provider's instructions.
4. Install Internet Explorer if it has not been done.
5. If everything has been done correctly, when you open Internet Explorer youcan access the Internet.If you have a wireless router and it is connected to the DSLor cable modem then -
To connect to yourwireless router, the router needs its wireless settings to be configuredwith the SSID, encryption key etc., also the wireless cards in all thelaptops/computers needs to be configured with these router's wireless settings.Then the laptops/desktop computers can communicate with your wireless router.

1.- Try to find the wireless card switch (or button). Look the wireless led indicator, must be on.
You should surf if the led is on.

2.- If not works, go to device manager and look to your wireless device and turn the switch on and
off again. Look if the device is accepted without any sign. If the device get any sign then you
have problem with your wireless driver. If no sign. Open My Computer and then open networks
or my network places, and try to access to any other computer you have.

3.- If the device is ok in device manager and the led indicator is on and you can access other
computer thru network places, then open Internet explorer, go to tools, then go to internet
options, then go to connections and there click on Lan settings. In the proxy section uncheck
the box. Restart your Internet Explorer and it must surf now.

Check if the Wireless computer is connected correctly to the Wireless Router, and if yes then try to access google.com and check if you have that Web page opened or not, if not thenn check the Wireless IP address of the Laptop and make sure it should be in the same range of the router, or else the Wireless computer will not connect to Internet.

Adding a browser should not effect your internet access.
Do you still have your old browser?
Does it work?
Have you accessed your network connections and checked to see the
condition of your connection?
Did you configure your browser to work on your connection?
--On your browser click TOOLS and go to internet options.
--Check the CONNECTIONS tab
--Click LAN SETTINGS
--Check the box that says "automatically detect settings"
--Uncheck any other box.
If this does not work, u need to provide more info about your network settings.

1. I see that you have a wireless B adapter. Does your wife's computer have a Wireless B adapter also?

2. If ur wife's laptop does not have a wireless B but has a wireless G then we are closer to resolving the problem

3. It's now time to access the wireless router to see if it is allowing access from wireless B client adapters OR only G.

4. If it is set to G only, then you need to change it to B+G

5. If it is already set to B+G, then we need to check the security settings on the AccessPoint

6. If the security settings need for u to register the MAC address of your card in addition to entering a password then u'd have to acquire the MAC address of ur card and add it to the allow list.

To get MAC ADDRESS:
Go to the command prompt
Type ipconfig /all (then press enter)

ok. unplug your computer and remove the battery. leave it that way for two full minutes. then put the battery back in and plug the computer back in. These steps reset your computer.

now open it up and crack it up using your usual method. It should be fine. if not get back and I will take you through the steps of making it recognize your wireless modem again. hopefully this will not be necessary.
