Well it might either be the tv or the av cables that is causing the wii system to be in black grey and white then.

Make sure the plugs EXACTLY match the jacks on the TV. If you plug just the green cord into the TVs yellow jack, you will get black and white. If your tv has a combo jack (uses the green of a component input, make sure that the tv is on the right input (COMPONENT and not VIDEO).

Try the different inputs on your TV to see if its black and white on all of them. If thats the case then try another TV, if its still black and white then its a problem with the Wii. If it works well on another TV then you know the original TV is the problem.
You probably don't have something hooked up right or connected all the
way. If you are using component video cables, make sure that all of the
different plugs are plugged into the matching socket on your TV. Also,
make sure you have your TV on the right channel (3 or 4) if that's how
you have it setup.
Otherwise, you will want to look at the input settings on your TV and
make sure you are receiving the correct input, and if you have your Wii
plugged into a VCR instead of directly to your TV, try hooking it up
directly to see if it works.
If that doesn't work, try using a different TV - especially if it's a
TV you know works in color with a Wii. If it is still in black and
white, you might need to take it back to the store and exchange it for
a new one.
