Verify that you are connected to the correct network - check the SSID of your modem or router. Then verify that the printer is connected to that SSID as well. Check to make sure you have the correct network access number - sometimes an incorrect value gets entered. Once you've established the connection, check each computer for the printer connection of the C5180. They should say "ready" or "online" in the computers for the C5180 - reboot the computers if not.

Thanks for your advice,
I have already done as you have suggested. I'm thinking it's a firewall problem. I can print from all of my computers on this printer, I just can't get it to scan from the printer to the computer. I bypass the hp software and the XP scan software works ok but that's computer to printer.
The printer and the computers are all on the correct network but the hp solution centre says the hp printer is disconnected. Rebooted etc. No change. Adding a device in programs>hp>photosmart doesn't work either.
I did try disabling the Norton firewall to no avail but I know the Windows firewall is still on. How do I disable that(I'm a MacMan)?
Thanks again.
