Your battery maybe out of charge. Thats why nothing happens when you press the power button. The battery may not be charging because the power cord might not be working. Try another power cord.

Try removing the battery and plugging the power cord and switching on the computer. If its the problem with the power cord the computer wont start. If it starts, the power cord is working fine.

My dell studio1555 laptop is not recognising my mains lead/charger

Plug the adapter into the wall outlet or power strip. If using a power strip, make sure the strip is on. Most laptop power adapters have a small LED light; the light will illuminate when power is being transferred from the outlet to the adapter. If the light illuminates, chances are you have sufficient power to supply your laptop. Wiggle the power cord if the LED light did not initially illuminate. If the light turns on and off when you wiggle it, you might have a loose cord in the adapter, or the outlet could be faulty. Plug the adapter into another power outlet, preferably a different circuit in another room, if the LED light did not illuminate the first time. If it lights up from the second outlet, the first outlet either does not work or other devices were using too much power on the initial circuit. Connect the other end of the adapter to the laptop and turn the laptop on. When the computer starts up, you should see an indication of how the laptop is being powered in the lower right-hand corner. If you see a battery icon, then the laptop is being powered by the battery, not the adapter. Make sure both ends of the adapter are securely connected. If they are, and if the LED light on the adapter is lit, then you likely have a faulty wire that is not properly connecting to your computer. If you see a plug or adapter icon, then the laptop is successfully being powered by the adapter. If the LED light on the adapter is not lit, then the bulb is out, but the adapter is still working.

If left unplugged fro the laptop for a few hours, or if the charger itself is moved from room to room, occasionally we get an issue where the green light that indicates power does not show up at all. The...

If light you are talking about is on the power supply itself, you need to replace the power supply. Look on E-Bay.

If the light you are talking about is the AC power light on the laptop, then there are two things that are most likely. First is the power receptacle in the laptop. I have personally seen many of these fail. The other thing is the battery. With the system Off, and power supply disconnected, remove the battery. Wait a couple of minutes and put back in and plug in charger. If it continues to happen then it is most likely the power receptacle in the laptop.

Best of luck, Jim

Black screen, power and battery are ok

Hi,

Check fuse in plug first...!

Take the battery out and then plug the power adapter in and try to power it on, if it comes on power the laptop off again remove power adapter and put the battery back in and plug the power adapter back in.
If it didn't power on or light up on the laptop then the power adapter has gone faulty, buy a new one.

Power it on again, if it doesn't power up at all and there are no power lights the battery has come to end of its life.

If it powers on fine, then it just locked up, one of those things.

Thanks

Battery will not charge on a dell d610 when plugged into outlet

I have seen this with faulty batteries.
Try changing the battery.
Also, check in the BIOS that the adapter you are using is recognised and shows a state of charging with the battery in.

Battery stopped charging

Your adapter could be faulty, test it with a multimeter, the voltage should be slightly higher than the voltage printed on the label on the adapter.
If the power adapter is OK then the power connector on the laptop could be faulty, plug the connector into the laptop and wriggle the connector to see if the power LED light on the laptop flicks on and off. This indicates a faulty connector and can be repaired.

To check if the laptop is OK, borrow a charged battery or an adapter, connect it to your laptop and see if it boots up.

No power showing

the power system is my first consideration, since the attempt of using battery and the adapter and it doesno longer come on, i suggest you have the power system checked but first insert the battery carefully and check if it comes on or not and carefully plug the adapter and watch if the adapter led on the adapter comes on or not,if comes on the power system of the laptop is the case and if does not come on change the adapter and try again. should it not work out the power system of the laptop is defective.

Acer Aspire 5633WLMi Laptop

unplug everything that isn't necessary to run the laptop ie, external mouse, battery, etc. Then plug the ac adapter in, making sure the switch for 110/220 is appropriate for your region. Now, does the machine turn on? PLease respond with the answer, and we'll go from there. Good luck
