If you have Photoshop installed on your computer, when you plug in your camera, a screen should pop up for you to dump the photos from the camera to 'Bridge' (which is an app in PS).
Hope this helps

Hi,

First of all computer need compatible camera driver/software to communicate with your device (camera), you can download camera driver from its manufacturer's (camera) website. After installing camera software/driver into your PC (Computer). Connect your camera with computer through USB Cable that came up with the camera and transfer photos.

When I try to download most recent pictures I am forced to download all that are on camera

It depends on what software you are using to transfer photos from the camera to your computer.
If you install and use the "Camera Window" transfer software Canon included with the camera, you will see you have three modes to choose from, including the option to transfer just the photos on your camera that have not yet been transferred.

Connect the camera with a USB cable to your computer.
Power up the camera.
The computer will detect the camera, and open a dialog box offering you a choice of programs on your computer that can handle photo transfers.

If you choose the Camera Window software, it will open and present a menu with three choices of action. The first option is, "Import images from Camera." Select this.

Another submenu opens presenting these three options:

1. Import Untransferred images. (this is what you said you want)
2. Select images to Import. (manually select just certain ones)
3. Import All images (automatically transfers every image on the card)

Camera Window is just one of many available image transfer applications you could use. They all do essentially the same three things outlined above, including "Import Untransferred images."

Canon included a couple other utility programs on the CD that came with your Powershot A490 camera. One of them, "Zoom Broswer EX" enables you to reload photos from your computer, back on to your camera's image card, if you want to do that.

You have two options. If you normally transfer your photos by connecting your camera to your computer, remove the memory card before making the connection. This will allow the computer to see the photos in the camera's internal memory.

If you normally transfer your photos by putting the memory card into a card reader, use the Backup command in the Settings-1 menu to transfer the photos from the camera's internal memory to the memory card, then transfer the photos from the card to the computer as normal. I have a nickon s230 camera and it want transferring photos to my computer it use to but now it wont do i need a up grade i run windows 7 home premium 32 bit

Try to see if you can transfer the pics manually as follows: I never use any program or let the computer save my photos when I connect my camera. I save my Photos manually. Connect Camera to Computer via USB. Then use Windows Explorer and go to the My Computer. Then on C:\Hard Drive right click and select new folder, name it Your Name Photos. You should now see your camera listed as E:\Camera Name or if you have 2 CD / DVD drives it will be E:\Camera Name. Hight light on the *.jpg files and copy to your Saved Folder in my case C:\Dan\Photos
