My cd-rom is not visible i don't no what to do to enable it.

click start control panel,administrive tools,computer management,device manager scroll to cd/dvd rom drives right click properties then properties again then tick enable cd digital cd audio for this cd rom device or scroll to dvd regions select the no _ for your specific area

"ASSUMING YOU ARE USING A SATA HDD"

check the bios settings.....

if your hard disk detection is enabled or not...

if yes...(yet your system is not detecting your hard drive)

then....go the manufacturer's site and download the respective sata driver of your hdd (particular model number)...

burn it into a cd...

insert the cd into a usb cd rom/writer.....

then try to install windows.... let the system boots from the cd

at the time when it says "press f2 to install driver"

press f2...

then browse to the location i.i. usb cd - rom/writer and install the driver...


now your system will detect your hdd...

Please read to the end before atempting this.
Is this XP or Vista. In Windows based computers some times the High and Low filters get messed up in the registry. If the drive is still good and you had not had any issues with it not reading disks then the filter settings may be your problem. Try this:

1) Close all open programs
2) Click on Start, Run, and type REGEDIT and press Enter
Note: Vista doesnt come with the run command as a choice so just type REGEDIT in the search bar above Start..
3) Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders to open them.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

SYSTEM
CurrentControlSet
Control
Class
{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
(looks like same file name for XP and Visat?)

4) This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

UpperFilters
LowerFilters
UpperFilters.bak
LowerFilters.bak

5) If you see any of the above keys, right-click on each of them and choose Delete
6) Close the Registry Editor
7) Reboot your computer
8) Click Start
9) Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drive shows now.
Open the device manager for your version of Windows and make sure the Rom Drive is showing and that it is not showing an exclamation mark. If you still do not see the Rom drive then your drive may be defective. Note: you migh have to reinstall some of your CD or DVD playing/burning software. Hope this helps... Dale

You should run your computer in safe mode and do a virus scan.

1. restart your computer and press F8
   
2. select safe mode with networking
   
3. update your antivirus program
   
4. do a full virus scan
   

Than if you CD rom still is not working these are the steps to enable it again.

1. Right click 'my computer'
   
2. click 'manage'
   
3. on the left side click 'device manager'
   
4. than on the right side locate your cd rom and click the + sign
   
5. right click on the cd rom 
   
6. select 'enable'

Enabling AutoPlay on a data and audio CD (Windows XP)

1. Open My Computer or Explorer
2. Highlight the CD-ROM drive, right-click the CD-ROM drive and click properties.
3. Click the AutoPlay tab. Within this section you will be able to specify all Windows AutoPlay features.

Of course, I finally located the switch. It's more of a "button", and when it's turned off it is barely visible. Anyway, the radio button is right at the top center of the keyboard above the function keys. When it is on, it is lit up blue. When it is off, you may not even know it's there!
