I have an Electrolux Epic 6500 SR vacuum and the hose end with the handle is separating. Power nozzle losing contact intermittently. Is this piece replaceable or repairable?

It is replaceable. Just take it to the nearest Aerus Electrolux store and the service tech will take care of it for you.

Have you checked the motor on the powerhead? It runs on a separate motor from the vacuum cleaner. Also make sure the belts in the powerhead are good. Hope this helps.

No, they have different connectors. 1521 uses a pigtail hose that has little metal clips. 6500 has a plastic end with an arrow that helps guide you for proper placement. Unfortunately you will need 2 separate hoses for the respective models.
The switch is definitely a possibility, but other problems can also cause this.
Bad switch, needs replaced.
Broken wiring in power nozzle, wands, hose, or canister.
Bad PN motor.
I strongly recommend taking it to the nearest authorized Aerus Electrolux store for a diagnosis (should be free). Allowing them to do any repairs necessary is recommended, as well. This will ensure it's done correctly.
That's about the best one to narrow down a problem, however, there could also be a break in your hose wiring. Switches, hoses, and hose handle assemblies are all available at your local Aerus Electrolux store. Simply take your entire machine in so they can check it to be sure what the problem is.

2. Check for clogs in the hose and the power nozzle inlet.
3. Disconnect hose. Turn on vacuum. Does it run? If so, place hand over intake? Did it shut off? If it did, the problem is a worn out or broken component inside the vacuum. Generally a result of using generic "made to fit" Electrolux bags. This is a part that needs to be replaced in an authorized Aerus (Electrolux) shop.
Good that you didn't just pry things open. If you look closely you will see several tiny plastic caps under which will be hidden screws. Remove the screws and gently separate the "handle cover" from the main handle, then slide the handle off the hose. Clean the internal handle contacts and the rings on the hose. Reassemble by installing handle onto hose fully to align contacts, then installing wiring cover portion onto the hand grip. Any evidence of black pitting on the rings needs to be polished with fine sandpaper and the finger contacts adjusted for tension to eliminated further shorting. After cleaning, you can apply a very thin film of petroleum jelly to the contact rings for smoother rotation.
As hooton8 stated i have the electrolux epic 6500 sr. as well and when i attempt to vacuum i turn it on and it turns off after about 3 seconds. new bag nothing stuck in tube. I turned dial to the right all the way. Works when hose is not connected..hose is clear.
You need to look under AERUS Electrolux to find a Dealer with parts. Electrolux USA sold the brand name back to AB Electrolux of Sweden a few years ago and there is no relation between the two. You may also find a common component of a different color at a Tri Star dealer as they shared some power head and hose technology in the era of the EPIC although they don`t tell people that
