My fax machine will send a fax, but I can't receive a fax?

The fax machine may be in secure receiving mode. The following is from the User's Manual section on Faxing. downloadcenter samsung com

Receiving in secure receiving mode

You may need to prevent your received faxes from being accessed by unauthorized people. You can turn on secure receiving mode to restrict printing of received faxes when the machine is unattended. In secure receiving mode, all incoming faxes go into memory. When the mode is deactivated, any stored faxes are printed.

Activating secure receiving mode

  1. Press btn_fax.png(Fax) on the control panel.

  2. Press Menu until Advanced Fax appear.

  3. Press the left/right arrow until Secure Receive appear and press OK.

  4. Press the left/right arrow until On appear and press OK.

  5. Enter a four-digit password you want to use and press OK.
    note.png

You can activate secure receiving mode without setting a password, but cannot protect your faxes.

  6. Re-enter the password to confirm it and press OK.

  7. Press Stop/Clear to return to ready mode.

When a fax is received in secure receiving mode, your machine stores it in memory and shows Secure Receive to let you know that there is a fax received.
Printing received faxes

  1. Access the Secure Receive menu by following steps 1 through 3 in "Activating secure receiving mode."

  2. Press the left/right arrow until Print appear and press OK.

  3. Enter the four-digit password and press OK.

The machine prints all of the faxes stored in memory.

Deactivating secure receiving mode
  1. Access the Secure Receive menu by following steps 1 through 3 in "Activating secure receiving mode."

  2. Press the left/right arrow until Off appear and press OK.

  3. Enter the four-digit password and press OK.

The mode is deactivated and the machine prints all faxes stored in memory.

  4. Press Stop/Clear to return to ready mode."

Display fax gives a warning "received in memory" we also have a warning "prepare black toner" We can not print the fax! What can we do?

Generally the "received in memory" message is a result of the machines inability to print. I.E. It received a fax, attempted to print it, failed, and then stored it in memory to print once the issue has been corrected.

The Prepare Black Toner error is likely directly related. If the toner cartridge is empty, inserted incorrectly, or damaged it could be causing this error. Try reseating the cartridge by removing and reinserting. If that doesn't clear the error try replacing it with a new Canon branded cartridge.

As soon as you correct the printing issue the stored faxes will print.

Our fax machine - panasonic model fp-342 can't received fax due to error display "fax memory full" . How can i fix that?

This fax machine stores the faxes in memory and then prints them out.

If it's unable to print them, is either because there is no paper or no ink.
The memory eventually gets full and stops receiving faxes.

I have an SCX-4521F and suddenly I cannot send or receive a fax. There is notification that a fax has been sent to me, but it does not print. When I send a fax, it tells me there is "no answer"...

Hi, I am Steve and I and going to help solve your issue.
I am going to start with the 2 simple things that may be causing this. Please accept my apologies if you have tried both of these solutions. If you have please let me know and we can go on to more advanced troubleshooting.
As the machine has suddenly stopped sending or receiving faxes I am assuming it was working prior to this issue.
The first thing to check is whether the machine is still setup to enter fax mode. the best explanation for this is directly from the Samsung support - click here for the instructions on ensuring automatic fax mode is enabled.
alternatively the memory could be full. again I am going to use the Samsung support site instructions to help you clear the memory - click here for the instructions and you want to clear the fax memory (option fax feature) if this does not work it may also be worth using fax setup and advanced fax - these will reset the fax machine to its factory defaults.
Please let me know if these solve your issue, if not we can move onto further troubleshooting?

Memory full

Here is the user's guide.
Go to page 65 (page 81 on the reader bar on the bottom) and turn off Advanced Fax Operations > It will ask you if you want to print the faxes or erase them. Also, see page 80 ( page 96 in the reader) first. It explains what to do.

Error message says "memorry full" will not let us fax or scan for Konica Minolta 290MF

The FAX machine received some FAXes while it was without paper. Make sure the FAX has paper and try printing the stored faxes or check in the fax menu if they can be cleared without printing.
Another problem may be that the FAX received not faxes but voice messages, retrieve and delete the messages and the error should be gone.

Received fax's are not printing. Unit prints confermations and is working as a printer but recieved fax's just park in memory and will not print.

TYPICALLY A FAX MACHINE WILL RECEIVE MESSAGE IN MEMORY WHEN NO PAPER OR TONER/INK FINISHED INDICATION IS THERE, REPLENISH THESE SUPPLIES WITH GENUINE ONES AND FAX WILL START PRINTING. IF PROBLEM IS NOT SOLVED , PLEASE TRY TO CLEAR THE SETTING FOR MEMORY RECEIVING, IF STILL NOT SOLVED TRY BRINGING THE MACHINBE TO FACTROY SET SETTING BY CLEARING THE MEMORY. HAPPY FAXING OMNIPRESENT
