Midland cb keeps blowing fuses

depending on which model it is there is a reverse polarity diode near the power cord that connects the radio . If it was connected wrong no matter how many fuses you insert it will keep blowing them. You have to change that diode in order to get the radio to work. If you still have the fuse problem then take it to a tech and let him fix it.

Need manual for midland 76-858

here is the pin outs.. look at the switch in the mic handheld housing.. and attach as the one shown for midland 4 pin. this will work with any radio. and doesn't matter which color is what.. as long as the wire on the switch matches the wire on the pin correctly.

I just installed my midland 1001z and it works like half of the time. and then the other time it is just static just bought a power filter so idk if that is going to help or not any idea what else could be...

  • Hi, I can help.

  • If you rig is working part of the time and then out of the blue is "staticky" then I would suggest that you check the antenna connector on the back of your CB. Also check the connector on the coax going into the radio and also check the coax where it leaves the inside of your car and see if the outside of the coax is pinched or worn.

  • Static out of no where is a good sign somehow your antenna is failing. You could also be picking up some bad skip which will raise the needle on your CB and cause a lot of loud static out of no where.

  • Static part of the time and not others is not really a symptom of car interference (even with a hybrid) so the filter won't really serve in that aspect but it will quiet other noises so it is not a waste by any means.

  • if you have any comments please feel free to leave them here.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

Regards, Tony

The wire broke off my aerial and the transmit button was pressed with no proper aerial, mended the aerial, now I get an SWR reading on my meter of 1.2 but no power output reading and no reply's to calls !!...

it sounds like u fried your final.. Its only your driver/buffer transistor that's working right now..
if u can identify them usually large square transistors close to the aerial conn,
look for # on front of transistor buy replacement and replace . if your handy with the iron it should be a cake walk.

HI i installed a midlands 1001z in my old land rover a few days back , and have not heard any chatter or signals back from any one , when i press the mic the screen shows a full display of lights(signal) ...

Aluminum is a great conductor, and it sounds like your setup is just fine. Make sure that CB/PA switch is in the CB position. If it is, and you still don't hear any transmissions, chances are that there's just no one using this one-popular service in your area. I just tuned through through all 40 channels here in San Antonio, Texas, and didn't hear a single peep.

New hand held Midland CB Model #75-785 that will not transmit

Try asking any onrt CB'ers if they can hear you at all.

Could be 2 things -

#1 - you are really too close.

#2 - you've blown the output stage of your rig by keying the mic without an aerial fitted.
- This is very common, and most repair centres are used to dealing with this.
If you are up to electronic repair, it's possible to DIY repair.
Could also be an antenna mismatch or fault.
