Anyway I was thinking that I might as well get a whole new unit but I need to make sure it will fit in the existing housing? Provided I buy another Neff Double Oven do you know if it will fit ? the old Oven is about 7 / 8 years old. Thank you

It should fit without any problem most oven housings will accomadate most ovens, those in production now, and those made 10 or more years ago.

Common heating faults with Neff U1661 Double oven

For all Free appliance repair videos visit our VIDEO TUTORIALS 1, If the Neff fan motor in the back of the oven is going round and the temperature light is on (normally little red light), but there is no heat then you will probably need a new oven element, these are generally very easy to fit and readily available from our website these can be tested with a electric meter.
To gain access to the NEFF element you will have to remove the back plate from inside the oven. Once removed you will see the fan and element, if you look closely at the element you will probably see a small hole burnt in it where it has blown. Sometimes however there is no evidence of a fault but the element is open circuit ie: broken inside the element casing, either way it will need replacing. Some elements will are fixed from inside the oven and some are held in place by nuts from the rear of the machine.
2, If your NEFF fan oven is getting warm but takes a very long time to cook or is burning the food more on one side than the other, then you need to check if your oven fan motor is working you will see the blade turning fast if it is ok. if the element is heating but the fan motor is not blowing the heat into the oven then you need To replace the oven fan motor is a little more expensive and a bit more involved.
3. If you have the opposite problem ie: your oven is over heating and burning everything then you will need to replace your NEFF oven thermostat
4, A quite common and easily overlooked answer is if your NEFF oven is not working at all ie: no heat and no fan then the chances are that someone has put the oven timer into AUTO mode, simply put oven back to MANUAL mode and all should be working again.

I have changed the element on a neff u1661 main oven but still doesn't heat up. I noticed that one cable is loose possibly the earth?.the top oven and light and clock all work. Any suggestions please.

Is the loose cable on the element , if yes ISOLATE THE APPLIANCE BEFORE REMOVING PANELS
Usually they are spade terminals remove the affending connection, with a pair of pliers carefully press the terminal into itself, not too hard, it will be hard to put back on the element, move the terminal from side to side and ease on with continuous pressure. while you have the back off if you have a multimeter switch the mains back on, use extreme caution select A/C voltage above 250 volts, switch on the oven the fan will start to blow measure across the terminals, if you get a reading of 230 volts A/c the element should start to heat up. If no voltage, send me a reply.
Hope this has been helpful

Fan has stopped working in main oven, element is fine recently replaced (2008).Is this terminal or can it be repaired

It is usually better to have a new fan fitted than to try to repair it unless it is something simple like a broken wire.

Neff faulty Fan

Hi.
I would not think that both fan and element are faulty, although it is possible.
if it has a timer make sure that it is on manual and not on auto, as this would stop the oven working.
Other possible fault is faulty main oven selector switch.
Hope this helps. Please do not for get feedback .
Thanks.

Neff U1661 main element doesn't heat up

Hi.

Yes ,it is the element.

You need to remove the panel at the rear of the oven, this will give you access to the element.

Good luck

Change Bulbs in Neff U1661 Oven

You don't need to slide the oven out, just remove the glass covers with a flat bladed screwdriver and then unscrew the old bulbs. Replacement is the opposite.
Bulbs available from Homebase, Wickes, BandQ etc etc.
