How do i scan to email - Computers & Internet

You must have an email program like Outlook installed on your computer. When scan to email is selected it simply opens whatever defaul email client and attaches the scanned doc to a new email message.

You cannot scan pictures directly to email.
Scan the photo and save the photo as a JPG file.
Open your email program, setup the email and address to your friend and then attach the scanned JPG file to this email before sending it.

"Scan to email" feature is dependent upon the TWAIN and MAPI supported applications. TWAIN and MAPI (Message Application Programming Interface) are standards that relate to "Scanning" and "Scan to email" features respectively. Applications have to support these to make use of HP Director. Not all email accounts are MAPI supported applications. The following are the ones which satisfy the MAPI criteria.

If you are not using any of the above email accounts, you need to configure your email account with Microsoft Outlook/Outlook Express to use this feature. After configuring, you can use the scan to Email feature by perfroming the following steps.

1. Open HP Director/ HP Solution Center.

2. Click Settings -->> Scan Settings & Preferences --->> Scan to... Setup.

3. Select the available destinations and add them to the front panel destinations.

4. While scanning, you will receive a window showing the scan details which contains the section "Where do you want to scan?". Select "Email".

You have to scan to your pc then you can attached it to emails.

while scanning try reducing the DPI of the scans. this will make the image smaller in size but it will effect the picture quality very little. but do keep in mind that the dpi must be atleast 70 for better picturization

first you need to ensure the scanner facility files have been down loaded to your computer .. if you go into the web monitor by http your ip address you should have the web monitor page up there you need to entr a user with your password and email address. then when you go to the scan option on your display of the copier you have hte option of scan to foldere or scan to email there is a manual email setting enter the email address and scan as normal. if you need more info give me a reply and I can email the details..

This are the the information you need to setup scan to email and maybe you know how to access the web browser to setup the network. first you need to know the smtp host name or ip address, second you must create a valid email address for the copier. To access the web browser input the ip addrress and press enter click administrator and the password is 12345678 or 8 zeros. there are tab system info print, scan and network. click the the scan tab. choose scan to email first thing you will see enable scan to email smtp ip address or host name. enter the right smtp. witch this you can get to your mail server. do not change the port # and that is 25. Input administrator email address and the machine email address and turn on the authentication enter your user id and a password iof there is any.

on the printer menu find scan to email,set email up.after function done load whatever you wanna scan and press scan to email.

scan to email can only be setup to work on a internal email server if the email server is external it will not work. also make sure you input the admin email address and the from email address when configuing the machine

Solution #1 has nothing to do with the issue, the thread started asked how to scan a document to email via the mfc-9840cdw, not how to scan a email with antivirus.

Try opening up ports UDP:54925 on your Windows Firewall and try scanning from your computer instead of scanning directly from the printer to a email address. I tried scanning directly from the printer to send to a email and I get a error report of "poor line condition/out of memory" even though the line is fine.
